I currently have Sopranos 1, Mad Men 2, Breaking Bad 3. Probably Game of Thrones and The Shield right after those for Top 5. Band of Brothers I can't compare to a full-length series, different in kind! Just like I can't compare it to Seinfeld.

Amen.
I rewatch it every ~2years.
Loved the pacific also, but not as good as BoB indeed.

BoB

Mad men
Breaking bad
The shield
Office us
Lost (probably more for nostalgic reasons then the quality of the show) But The Constant (season 4) is still one of the best episodes of any tv show. Also i do think the ending is great, s6 not so much.

Im getting started on the wire soon and only seen the sopranos until midway s3.

If Youtube counts, I found a genius chiropractor video. I thought chiropractic was a scam? Not sure how this video was suggested to me, but it is definitely not a scam..

That'll be a new category, will take some adjustment before it's fully accepted. Like that new popular Oscar award.

With the Old Breed by Sledge is one off the most interesting and engaging WWII memoirs I have ever read and I can't imagine anyone not being completely engrossed by it.
excellent ill def read both!

Agreed. It's also sort of how I feel about The Wire. I read an review that called The Wire "Shakespearean" and my first reaction was "LOL, Shakespeare couldn't write this well in his dreams."

lol, I think it's pretty overrated myself. I'll happily take Shakespeare, even the tragedies!

The Pacific The most brutal depiction of WW2 combat I have ever seen. This companion piece to Band of Brothers tell the stories of 3 marines who fought in the Pacific campaign of WW2. If the European theater was the last good war the US fought, the Pacific theater may have been the first "bad" war with soldiers fighting through hostile terrain, fanatic enemies, civilians of unknown loyalties and barbarism on all sides. It is a riveting series with amazing set pieces, great acting and a real sense that you are there with those marines, even painfully so at times.

I’m glad that the comments of “its alright” and “I think it’s overrated” re: The Wire are from the same person...

...because it would blow my mind if there were two people in the world that don’t think it’s phenomenal.

All the top shows have their critics. Of the consensus best shows ever (Wire, BB, Sopranos, throw in a few others maybe), I'd definitely say BB is the worst and not worthy of comparison to the best HBO stuff.

We just finished Mindhunter on Netflix, really enjoyed it. A lot of the Netflix stuff I think is pretty terrible but this one is right up my alley. True crime-esque, mysterious, kind of Sorkin-ish sharp dialogue, and filmed a lot in a Zodiac kind of vibe, unsurprisingly Fincher is involved.

I've seen a lot of people who don't like The Wire. Usually they stopped watching after the first few episodes though.

BoB is the best, it is perfect in every way. (Even Tom Hanks's son)

**** my life i just realized u guys are talking about the hbo show band of brothers.
when i was saying band of brothers was the GOAT i meant the documentary about Hanson, undoubtedly the greatest band of brothers.

every time I hear mmmmmmmbop i get chills down my spine thinking about what they went thru to make that song.

sorry for the confusion ill check out this other BoB n see what I think but glorification of war isn't really my thing.

plus come on donnie wahlberg, david schwimmer and colin hanks and this is supposed to be a good show???

lol gtfo.

I haven't watched it yet because I'm bitter. I was cast as an extra in it and didn't even get in the scene.

There's a flashback to when the Unabomber was in college and some doctors do some cruel psych experiments on him. I was cast as a doctor/scientist. There were 8-10 of us or thereabouts and one person was cast as a G-Man.

As usually happens when you're an extra, we sat around for hours before doing anything. When an assistant director came over to start prepping us - figuring out where we'd be positioned and what-not - he looked at me and decided to make me the G-Man. Just something with my look, height, whatever. I did look pretty awesome in my period suit and glasses (the glasses were actually mine - I was surprised they let me keep them on).

The downside was that I had to wait even longer because my scene was later. The upside is that it would just be me and two actors.

So I watched them film all the stuff with the scientists and it looked fantastic. Everyone did a great job. Then it gets to my scene. I was brought onto the set, which was a room behind a two-way mirror where a G-Man was watching the experiment. I was the other G-Man with him. The two actors happily introduced themselves to me and all was well.

But then the director came in, looked at me, and started having a discussion with the assistant director. He decided I couldn't be in the shot because I wasn't already established as having been in the room, so it wouldn't make sense. The AD told me they'd find a place for me, but in the end, they didn't.

That was a day wasted. It happens sometimes, but it doesn't make me less annoyed.

EDIT: Mindhunter is great.

Netflix Original, The Innocents, is a pretty good supernatural drama. I started watching ep1, not expecting to enjoy it and ended up binging through the whole show.
