I haven't watched it yet because I'm bitter. I was cast as an extra in it and didn't even get in the scene.
There's a flashback to when the Unabomber was in college and some doctors do some cruel psych experiments on him. I was cast as a doctor/scientist. There were 8-10 of us or thereabouts and one person was cast as a G-Man.
As usually happens when you're an extra, we sat around for hours before doing anything. When an assistant director came over to start prepping us - figuring out where we'd be positioned and what-not - he looked at me and decided to make me the G-Man. Just something with my look, height, whatever. I did look pretty awesome in my period suit and glasses (the glasses were actually mine - I was surprised they let me keep them on).
The downside was that I had to wait even longer because my scene was later. The upside is that it would just be me and two actors.
So I watched them film all the stuff with the scientists and it looked fantastic. Everyone did a great job. Then it gets to my scene. I was brought onto the set, which was a room behind a two-way mirror where a G-Man was watching the experiment. I was the other G-Man with him. The two actors happily introduced themselves to me and all was well.
But then the director came in, looked at me, and started having a discussion with the assistant director. He decided I couldn't be in the shot because I wasn't already established as having been in the room, so it wouldn't make sense. The AD told me they'd find a place for me, but in the end, they didn't.
That was a day wasted. It happens sometimes, but it doesn't make me less annoyed.
EDIT: Mindhunter is great.
