Superb Netflix Original Documentary about the incredible and bizarre 'pizza bomber heist' in Eire PA in 2003.
A man walks into a bank with a home made cane gun and a bomb strapped to his neck and demands money. After being cornered by the cops the bomb detonates and kills him.
This was the first act in a decade long saga that leads the FBI to a string of truly weird and colourful chatracters all of whom have their own story to tell.
Fascinating case that has a truly sad ending.

Just finished this and it was great. Probably would have ignored if I didn't see this post. Amazing story.

Am into the 4th season of The 100 and enjoying it. Are the characters stereotyped af... sure, yet the writing is decent, the music score riveting and the overall action stimulating enough. I would recommend perhaps 20 other shows before this one, but if you are into sci-fy and want to indulge in a show that started off as a guilty pleasure to something more solid, then you will dive into this series

Attack On Paris

This is a three-apart Netflix doc on the Paris terrorist attacks of 11/3/15.

The first part is about the bombing attack on the football stadium and the shootings at the various cafes.

The second part is about the attack on Club Bataclan where American band Eagles of Death Metal were playing.

The third part is about the hostage situation at Club Bataclan and how the victims and SWAT team members miraculously survived 2 suicide bombs going off in a narrow hallway as the area where the hostages were was breached by police.

This is mostly an interview program - with survivors, police, firefighters, and politicians including the Mayor of Paris and the then-President of France.

This is absolutely harrowing and heart-breaking, but in the end, a beautiful, life-affirming meditation on humanity and what binds us all together. In an oh-so-French way. The survivors are amazingly profound and dignified. The firefighters and SWAT team leader and other police who all admit they were overwhelmed and scared but proud that they got the job done, are just as moving.

Just spectacular in every way. A+++ Must see.

I rewatched the last episode of HBO's The Leftovers and found it just as moving as I did the first time. Although parts of the series seemed to wander off in strange directions, the ending was spectacular. I know why some people fervently hope for an afterlife. We have all lost loved ones, and while, for me, the memories are enough, for others they are not. The belief they will be reunited, or the belief the dead can communicate with the living, however irrational it appears to me, lives strongly in some. The Leftovers is about that need to make sense out of why people disappear from our lives.

Damnit i really need to continue watching it (leftovers). I again dropped it at episode 4 or 5 in season 1. I heard it gets alot better but its not easy watching 5+ hours of pretty boring television before it gets good. 4 episodes on the terror left, i'll pick up the leftovers again after it.

Just spent twenty minutes trying to decide whether to start up Ozark, Banshee, Justified, The Expanse, Narcos, Altered Carbon, Sneaky Pete, Twin Peaks, Animal Kingdom, or Hannibal. Still haven't decided. The paradox of choice.

Get a 10 sided dice, allocate shows to numbers, roll it

1. Banshee (enormous fun and action packed, great characters)
2. Justified (once past season one gets awesome, top tier TV)
3. Sneaky Pete (great!)
4. Ozark (also great)
5. Narcos (also great)
6. Twin Peaks (an acquired taste)
7. Hannibal (haven't seen?)
8. Animal Kingdom (haven't seen?)
9. Altered Carbon (watched 2 episodes and hated it)
10. The Expanse (watched 2 episodes and hated it)

YMMV

Narcos is the most fun imo. I really wanted, and tried, to like altered carbon, but i gave up 7 episodes in. Its not that good really.

Appreciate all the feedback. I actually started Sneaky Pete, pretty randomly, shortly after writing my last post. First episode was decent enough. Pretty obvious what direction the show will be going in but seems like it's going to be a fun ride.

If I start up Justified, might it be worth it to read episode summaries of the first season and then start watching the second?

Season one is good but it is just more episodic than the following seasons which involve great long running story arcs. Personally I would just watch it all as it is top tier tv.

Hmmm I watched the pilot then decided it wasn't for me but might give it a try again since I only hear good reviews.

I quit after the first few episodes myself but it kept getting such rave reviews here I eventually went back and am glad I did.

I recently watched season one again...it gets a bad rap...it’s very good and not completely episodic...especially in the 2nd half.

Yeah, I was hooked on Justified from the beginning. It does get better in subsequent seasons, but I would've been happy even if all seasons were episodic.

Agree about Altered Carbon being not very good. I finished it, but it was a bit of a chore.

Banshee is a terrific show for binging. So over the top, but so much fun.

Basically, all the shows on that list are very good to great, barring AC (haven't seen The Expanse or Twin Peaks tho).
