I love how they reimagined Wendy as some little f-toy. Easily the decade's best remake:

Making an Ass Out of You and Me

I've been watching Friends, just finished season 3. (I've seen them all before)

And despite how amazingly cute Jennifer Aniston is, I find myself strangely attracted to Janice. What the hell is wrong with me?

Best thing in TV at the moment is the French horror series, The Returned.

Janice is pretty hot, plus she's devoted, almost supernaturally, to Chanandler Bong. Excuse me...Ms. Chanandler Bong. We dig that kind of loyalty.

That show was never the "smart" show, like a Seinfeld or M*A*S*H, but it has held up amazingly well, and is still damn funny.

Finally got around to watching The Wire. Wow. Amazing series.

Masters of Sex is a tremendous show that everyone with exquisite taste like me should be watching.

I really dig Sleepy Hollow. It is glorious in its attempts to use energy and ideas to overcome litttle things like plot, narrative incoherence and logical consistency.

It makes Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter look like a Ken Burns documentary.

The preview made it seem pretty cool. Then I watched 38 seconds of the pilot and realized it was terrible.

Favourite TV show for me is only on UK TV I think.

Gogglebox. Basically film of people watching TV shows/news/movies and their comments/reactions.

Sound terrible in concept, but is quite fascinating and entertaining.

A couple of the TV shows I have been watching are:

Borgen: Skandy political drama about a female Prime Minister. I have watch alot of episodes but not all of every series sequentially - but I highly recommend it.

Prisoner of War - Israeli drama about ex prisoners of war and undercover spies in the Palestinian territories and Israeli families. Another excellent spy psychological drama - again I have not watched every show of every series but really good stuff.

Not sure if you have access to this in your neck of the woods but worth seeking it out or following either if you can.

*warning - you cannot hate subtitles though

Tried watching "Top of the Lake" over the weekend.\ on Netflix. This stars Elisabeth Moss from Mad Men and is created by Jane Campion. It got lots of excellent reviews.

I found it unwatchable. Just terrible. Holly Hunter was laughable and I could not tell if she was intentionally playing it for laughs or not. Every male in the show was an evil rapist/murderer/pedophile/etc. Every woman in the show had been abused/raped/etc by a man. What a man-hating show.

Maybe the whole thing was an ironic joke about feminism and I didn't get it.

I watch a bunch of typical network crap but he shows running right now that I would miss if they were gone are:

Banshee (Cinemax) Ridiculously over the top action that is extremely entertaining. Almost every character is a badass of sorts and there is no definitive "good guy". The hero is an ex-con/thief who stole the identity of the dead sheriff and took his place in the town of Banshee which is populated by hillbillies, bikers, Indians, Amish, Amish gangsters, Russian mobsters and there is no love lost between any of these groups. If you like epic fight scenes and naked women you would probably like this show.

Episodes (Showtime) A lot of people hate this show I think but I find it hilarious. Matt LeBlanc plays a version of himself as the star of a crappy network sitcom. Lots of good characters and interesting situations.

The Spoils of Babylon (IFC) Extremely cheesy and satirical look at the 1970's era novel/miniseries. Big name cast and fits my sense of humor perfectly. A lot of it doesn't work but enough of it does to leave me laughing.

I am waiting for True Detective to finish and then marathon it. I did watch the first episode but since its only 8 I would rather watch I all at once without waiting in between episodes.

I'm assuming you know this is the show Homeland was based on. If you've seen Homeland, how does this show compare?

nunne - I really am not the guy to ask about TV.
I have not seen Homeland.

PoW is a very enjoyable show - it has emotional depth, good in depth plotting, good actors.

I am not the guy to compare TV shows with one another....I tend to watch series only when it is clear amongst critics and the public that it is worth watching...to give you an example....

I started watching Sopranos, The Wire, GoT - type shows after it was like 3 seasons in and I would start from the beginning....and sometimes I would catch up with the show as it is being screened sometimes not...

So sorry - I cannot answer Homeland....

My next thing is - I am deciding if I should start buying the DVDs for Breaking Bad or Mad Men - both get good reviews and I am tossing up which one I should invest my time and hard earned on...

I love Mad Men, but it's Breaking Bad for sure, also, Breaking Bad is over so you can get the complete series, Mad Men's final season hasn't aired.

On second thought, what I'd do is get Netflix, watch Breaking Bad 1st, then Mad Men, and then whatever else you haven't seen.

It makes me very happy to see this comment of POI. And believe it or not, it will get EVEN better. You're still a few behind.

Have to agree, the first 3 episodes have been absurdly good. usually takes me a while to really get into a show and enjoy it but I was hooked on this after the pilot. everything about it is elite, visuals, dialogue, acting and MM's character is already one of my favorites on tv.

i came across it by accident but was hooked from the start. i really like all the main characters, even fusco. all very good actors. i think michael emerson is perfect as finch and love the flashbacks.

always interesting stories and loads of sub plots that develop well. brilliant show

I think people hooked from the start of POI have a better perception of it than people who just look down their noses at it as a "standard" network monster of the week type show (in other words, people just giving it a shot despite it not really being their thing to begin with). I had very little interest in it from seeing the behind the scenes featurette prior to the start of season 1 (couldn't stand Caviezel at that point), but I was slightly intrigued and willing to give it a shot.

It was the first network Pilot I had palpable excitement about while I was watching it, in a long long time. I could just see that it had a ton of potential, and was on board right away, even though the Pilot was a bit rough on production value. There were a couple of so so episodes right toward the beginning, but once the Elias character was introduced, it began operating on an exceptionally high level ever since (especially for network TV).

To me, it's a modern day The Equalizer (in reverse), with a huge and awesome plot being interwoven over time (always paid off well, as well). You have to suspend your disbelief to a certain extent, but once you do, it's one of the most fun watches I've had in a long time.

Did anyone ever watch the cartoon Gargoyles when they were growing up? Well, both seasons are streaming on YouTube now via Disney Shows. Admittedly, it's cheesy but I do love it so. I've been binge watching them.
