I don't think Don is that happy. It just ended with him being happy on that moment, but obviously he will have unhappy times in his future. His character's happiness goes up and down.

Yeah, I'm glad they didn't have Don kill himself or something. It looks like he's going back to advertising, and that's what he's good at. Mad Men and Sopranos are my favorite tv dramas evaa.

I just finished Daredevil on the Netflix, really good. Don't stay away just cause it's from a comic book, I hate most of the comic book stuff.

I guess it was mentioned already. I finally watched a TV show for the first time in about 10 years, and that is Orphan Black.

Totally addicted. I've stormed through the first season in the past few days and it just gets better and better, more and more intense.

It does ask you to suspend your disbelief a lot, but it is unapologetic in asking you, not even pretending that anything is real or accurate, which makes it totally palatable for me. Despite this, I haven't found any legit plot holes or parts that seem out-of-line to move the plot forward. It is just a story and very well done.

Very complicated plot line that always keeps you guessing who is good and who is bad, who is on who's side and who isn't, surprises around every corner. Relentless action through and through. At first, I hated every character, but somehow I'm starting to like all of them, rooting for each one, trying to figure out who I empathize with and waiting to see who backstabs who. It is interesting to see how well they converted each character, who seemed obnoxiously one-dimensional into complex strangers.

I do have to tip my hat at the lead actress. Each character she plays is entirely different. Hard to believe that is all one person.

House of Cards confirmed great. I thought there would be a drop off with the third season, but not at all, as good if not better than ever. Anybody recommend The West Wing?

12 Monkeys does grow on you, but still put it in the bottom tier of tv shows, a la Orphan Black or Gotham...

Just started Band of Brothers, looks really good.

FWIW, thats my #1 favorite movie. Simply outstanding! These are real people that by all accounts Ive read are even better human beings than the movie made them out to be, except maybe:

Spoiler:
Sobel (this will make sense very soon if you haven't gotten far enough to know what I'm talking about)

ya BoB is the best thing that's ever been on TV.
west wing is great for the first 4 seasons.

went downhill (at least for me) when rob lowe left.
but def worth watching.

alright RBK, considering we have similar tastes in movies, The West Wing is definitely next in line. Thx.

And best thing on tv, personally I think True Detective has that potential for me, depending on season 2...

one thing you have to be ready for wrt to west wing is it can get a lil preachy/sappy.
it's not in my top tier of shows

BoB
wire
sopranos
deadwood
justified
etc

but def enjoyable.

also true detective is great but nothing beats band of brothers.
and that **** is true.

I agree, BoB is the best thing ever made

the jury is still out on Band of Brothers...

I like your top 5 Dub. All of those shows are great.
I would find a way to put Buffy into the top 5 though. I guess I would kick out True Detective to make room for Buffy.

Band of Brothers should not be included in a ranking of long-form TV series. It was a mini-series. That being said, it is one of the best filmed dramas ever made. Hell, it's possible that it's the best filmed anything ever made.

My list is almost identical to this. I would swap out The Wire for The Shield, and I would have Justified over Deadwood, but other than that it's pretty much spot on.

Hannibal has a real chance of cracking my top 5 if it's quality holds up until the end. I think it's way too early to have something like True Detective on there, after only 1 season.

that is true.
not really fair to compare something that stretches hundreds of episodes with a mini series.

then again ranking subjective art forms is pointless anyways.

For me it's

Madmen
Deadwood
The Wire
The Sopranos
Banshee

Why aren't there more mini-series? I like when everything is planned out in advance to have a nice conclusion to the show. Also why is Curb Your Enthusiasm not on anyones list

the lists are generally for dramas.
if you like mini series def check out generation kill.

My 'top' shows are different to my 'desert island' shows. I absolutely love Firefly and Generation Kill, but if I could only watch one show for the rest of my life there's no way I'm choosing them over stuff like BB or The Shield.

Mine:

The West Wing
Breaking Bad
St. Elsewhere
Justified
Twin Peaks

The Sopranos is amazing, of course, but I think it went on too long and has too many "meh" episodes. But the best episodes are some of the very best television ever.

Hmm.. I've never seen Justified.

Just finished the first 2 seasons of Orange is the New Black. While often uneven in tone (which too isn't surprising with a dramady), it was still a very good watch. Looking forward to season 3 set to be released in a few days.

When it first came out I watched the first few episodes and quit. But so many people kept blathering about how great it was I went back last year and watched the whole thing. It's great! It really starts getting good after those first few episodes as the story and character intertwine into a great TV show.

I watched the first season and still think its only "okay". Don't really have the urge to continue. I really like Olyphant and love Walton Goggins but i hate the accents..

Top 6:

Mad men
The Shield
Lost
Breaking Bad
The office US
Band of Brothers
..
Black sails (season 2 was so damn awesome)

Should still watch the wire and sopranos.
