Now that the stuff is available as part of an HBO subscription, I think getting people to buy the Blu-rays would be a tougher sell (but that's just like my opinion man).

23.98 transfers were done as far back as 2003 from what I remember (I just don't remember what format it was mastered to), so that's plausible. It also was WB for Home Video, so that's definitely plausible as that's the studio I was referring to with the 2003 starts.

New show Man Seeking Woman on FXX (on after It's always Sunny) is extremely funny. Stars Jay Baruchel who lives in sort of a fantasy world inside his own mind. Really hard to describe. I thought the first episode was good but strange and in episode 2 when I fully understood the concept I just laughed from start to finish.

This show is very ambitious and very funny but so strange, different and offbeat that it likely has little chance for success. I think it is the funniest and most original show in years and am totally hooked.

ya i mentioned it in the general thread for shows without their own thread.

im really enjoying it.

bill hader absolutely killed it as hitler.
he's such a great comedic actor really wish he was in more stuff.

(he absolutely stole the whole show at the roast of james franco).

I thought episode 2 was way better than the first. Hitler was great but the troll thing just didn't work at all.

But episode 2 put the pedal to the floor and didn't let up. I was dieing through the whole priest scene and the war room scene composing the text had me on the floor. Funniest stuff on TV I have seen in years.

I didn't make it past the troll sketch.
If it holds up, I'll go back and give it another chance, like I did with Broad City. (which I loved on the 2nd chance)

you should check out some of Simon Rich's short stories.
I didn't realize he created man seeking women, I've been a fan of his writing for awhile.

Yeah the Troll scene was unfortunate. I was like WTF? at that point thinking it was the worst thing ever on TV. But the Hitler scene saved the day and I finally understood the concept of the show.

Episode 2 just rocked from start to finish. I NEVER re-watch TV shows and I have already watched episode 2 three times now. This shows hits the wheelhouse of my comedy tastes.

Columbo: Blueprint for Murder (S1E07)- A decent Columbo, showing a fairly sophisticated hand in the writing and execution. Enjoyable.

Togetherness - I just started this and I'm really enjoying it. It's the Duplass brothers doing an indie feeling HBO dramedy. I'm 4 episodes deep on it, and so far it's nailed all the right notes. It seems like a basic "married with children is hard" story, but all the little things add up to a very real feeling and enjoyable ride. Melanie Lynskey has been especially strong in her role as the 50 Shades of Grey reading housewife. Looking forward to future episodes.

I recently discovered Pivot, which I thought was Canadian or European, but turns out it is a US station. There are a ton of documentaries, and a apparently they've produced their own dramas as well. I've watched the first two episodes of Fortitude. Haven't yet decided whether it is good, though the filming locale, apparently Iceland, is spectacular.

Their other drama is called North County, which I have yet seen.

Pivot is way down the dial on my Comcast. Is this a station that anyone else has heard of?

I think Fortitude is an island off the coast of Norway. I watched the 1st episode. Pivot is British somehow I think.

Well, the first 4 episodes of the last season of Justified is some of the best television ever made. Amazing stuff.

The new sitcom Fresh Off the Boat is so great I can barely stand it. I can't remember immediately loving a network sitcom like this in a long long time. This will charm the pants off the hardest of critical hearts.

Asian immigrants move to Orlando to run their restaurant in the early 90s. It might even make you leftos love America again.
