Watched the new season of The Trailer Park Boys (Netflix). This show never changes and is remarkably both consistent and always just more of the same. If you have seen one episode you have seen them all. But I still love it. I could watch these morons forever.

Thank God Dexter is over and I can't be tempted to watch it this year.

Looking forward to Boardwalk, Better Call Saul, and Hannibal this year. Will probably keep going with House of Cards and Homeland despite not being thrilled with them last season.

Just finished watching John Adams, HBO mini series. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0472027/
Fascinating account of the second President of the USA and his total dedication to independance.
Amazing performance by Paul Giamatti who dominates every second of this series.
Highly recommended for Giamatti's performance alone.

I just finished this tonight, was happy with the quality after such a long break between seasons. Also google says season 9 has already been shot and will air in 2015

It is easily in my top 5 comedies ever. I feel its probably very underrated or just hasnt been seen by most people i talk to. If i had to live inside a tv show, it would definitely be Trailer Park Boys.

I just watched all 5 seasons of The League and enjoyed it thoroughly, although the quality slipped just a bit toward the end. You don't even have to know about fantasy football or even football to enjoy the show imo. They create a little universe that reminds one of Seinfeld or Curb.

After years of being reminded to watch it, I finally did: Flight Of The Conchords!!

Fun show, but absolutely brilliant songs.

I have seen BOB a few times, but I wouldn't say it's the goat. I think The Pacific is equally as good.

Also worth watching are Rome https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rome_%28TV_series%29

Carnivale https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carniv%C3%A0le

and Game Of Thrones https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_of_Thrones

Hard pushed to call a favourite from those tbh.

I wouldn't disagree with this. I wasn't knocking BOB, I just think it's no better and no worse than some of the others I mentioned.
Rome, (seasons 1 + 2), for instance, are definately equal to BOB. Just as absorbing, great acting throughout and very well written.

I have the luxury of being able to sit and watch HBO series' back to back any time I want and can think of few better ways to spend a day or two.
It's certainly better to watch this way than an episode a week as they are aired.

I'm going to give Breaking Bad a try out next week. I know it's not an HBO production, but the hype says it's good so I'll give it a go.

look I loved rome, but it's just not in the same conversation as BoB.
generally don't try to get involved in these subjective "which one is better" as to each their own, but BoB is an historic work of art.
I've watched it at least 15x and it never gets old either.
it's just godamn perfect.

and those guys were ****ing true to life heroes/badasses.

fwiw the action to take out the 3 big guns on D day led by dick winters is still taught at the military academy as a perfect assault on a fixed position.

ps: breaking bad is phenomenal, but know that the story is secondary. the most amazing thing about breaking and is the unreal way they are able to build up suspense/tension.
also if you haven't seen shameless and justified get those on your queue ASAP.

cheers.

edit: I could be biased as I'm a huge WWII/military history buff

bob is the greatest movie series of all time.

Breaking bad- was an A the first time through, now the suspense is gone and while some parts are still really funny, it's annoying how preachy the show is.

DAMN, this show is so much better on 2nd watch. I hadn't heard/seen pretty much anything of theirs until I watched it for the first time the other day. I liked it enough to rewatch it, but now that I've heard the songs a lot (had to get the CD's) it's so much more fun to see how they folded the songs into the episodes.

Yep. And it can't really be argued. That's pretty rare.

In what way is it preachy?

I thought it was still an A on my 2nd, 3rd and 4th rewatches (before every premiere I'd rewatch). There are a few things I could've done without, but it's that with everything on a rewatch.

I agree that BOB is outstanding, don't get me wrong. I just think there are other shows that are equal to it, if for different reasons. But you are right, 'which one is better', is a matter of personal taste and not worth arguing about.

I watched Breaking Bad season 1, and yeah, it is great. Some of the situations they found themselves in were hysterical at the same time as being really suspenseful.
Am going to get the season 2 next week. Can't wait

Rome was exceedingly cheesy, no way it's in the same league as Band of Brothers.

Rome was a great showcase of what it was like to live in Rome at that time. Worth watching for that reason alone.

They should do another Rome series based on the Sulla/Marius years with a young Caesar as the youth cultural back drop.
