Finished up Treme last night. It was ok. It was one of those shows, for me, that was just barely good enough for me to continue watching but boring to the point that I wished it was over after almost every episode. Do not recommend.

The Virtues

4-part mini-series from Shane Meadows (This Is England, Dead Man's Shoes). I've always thought Stephen Graham deserved a lot more recognition than he gets (he is one of the most underrated actors around imo), and he's absolutely phenomenal in this, as is the rest of the cast. Pretty bleak viewing, but very good...highly recommended.

Alright. So Blindspot has finally grown on me. It will never be anything more then light popcorn entertainment, but considering how much my gf is enjoying it, am pretty happy that I too am actually paying a little more attention This said, what the f**k is it with the stoopid arse camera and its rapid endless shot cutting!?! Are viewers lacking concentration to this extent, ffs!!! Like having a travelling shot at bird's eye of the city last about 1/3 of a second before cutting it!!! And please stop with the shaky cam!!! Anyways, rant over.

Wow, The Queen's Gambit was something special. So entertaining. Anya Taylor Joy is incredible. They made chess seem like the Super Bowl. By the end, I was standing and yelling, "Knight to Q4! Knight to Q4!!!"

Not that I know what that means lol.

The best show I've watched this year. On par with Chernobyl.

i enjoyed the first few seasons or so of Treme for the music, Katrina reality aspect, and familiarity with NOLA but tapped out somewhere halfway through because they just didn't seem to be advancing the story in an interesting way.

Murder Among the Mormons was good. It helps that I didn't know anything about the story, so I didn't really know where it was all headed. Only 3 episodes, so it's shorter than most Netflix documentaries of this type, and didn't feel overlong imo.

If you plan on watching it, I would suggest not reading anything about it beforehand.

The Serpent is really not very good at all. It's an interesting story, but it's riddled with bad acting and bad dialogue, and the constant time jumps are really annoying. The pacing is also terrible.

It's a shame, because in the right hands this could've been great. Instead, it's basically just a boring mess.

lol, I just finished it today and you're right about the time jumps, I've never seen a show do so many random back and forths plus they did drag things out unnecessarily

I still enjoyed it & would recommend, its a fascinating story I was surprised I've never heard of

Spoiler:
I'm surprised that A-hole is still alive

looking at the closing credits of the actual people, the cast they chose had remarkably similar looks

No idea how they thought the time jumps were a good idea. It would be like, "6 months later", "3 months earlier", "3 months later", all in the space of 10 minutes. And every time it looked like the story was about to pick up steam, they would just jump back a few years to events that we've already seen happen a couple of times before. Just completely wtf.

Anyone else check out CNN's Stanley Tucci Searching For Italy?

It's pretty damn great.

Ratched.

I enjoyed it to be perfectly honest. I thought it was a decent watch, if you take it for what it is. I've watched a lot worse, and I would watch a series 2.

Going to start The Queens Gambit today.

Really enjoyed it.

I would not mind if CNN did a series of these in countries around the world all with a different celebrity host who has their roots in that country.

A few months back when my anxiety levels were very very high I found the great British bake-off to be an incredibly soothing show. My favorite types of movies/shows are typically horror, but my anxiety level was so high( the kind that would put a soft teen or a purposeless midwestern dolt on suicide watch) that I couldn’t even watch that stuff. The great British bake off has the same effect as one of those toy carousels that plays gentle musical box music; it puts me to sleep in a soothing way. It’s got lots of baking and a competition and people are so nice to each other in a non fake way. It’s serious without any actual tension.

Once my stress levels went closer to normal I found it a tad too boring to watch.

For years people have been saying "You gotta watch Arrested Development. You just HAVE to". I resisted because I'm stubborn.

We are well into the first season and it is ****ing hilarious. Can't stop laughing.
