So I watched the first episode of How To With John Wilson...and I'm a bit perplexed. It was a breezy 30 minutes...but hardly that deep. I'll continue, because it's an easy watch...but i'm wondering what John and Red are seeing in it that I'm not.

Dom, I find it poignant, perhaps because of John Wilson's ability to connect and not connect with people at the same time. I also love how people are willing to open up to him and how he is taking risks by reaching out to strangers, listening to their stories, and negotiating the small things, like small talk, many of us pull of with ease. Or seem to.

The show reminds me to be open.

Yeah, I found nothing special at all about John Wilson and his droll comic stylings, quit it after ep1.

The Flight Attendant is not good. At all. Horribly written.

I was asking my gf Sharona what she wanted to watch next, and she said "get The Knick." This is a bloody good time, New York City in all its circa 1900 glory. Clive Owen in anything is hard to beat. And I love that it's just a little bent around the edges too, or maybe very bent, always an odd little surprise around the corner.

Just watched Godless on Netflix, pretty good western miniseries. Jeff Daniels was phenomenal in it. Kind of Deadwood-ish (not as good as Deadwood but enjoyable nonetheless).

I also liked Godless, it's from the same guy who just did Queen's Gambit btw.

Hi kioshk, I wanted you to know I have completely lost it forever, and I can’t watch arc show, or a movie or read a book anymore. I don’t have the attention span for it and never will but I watched a few episodes of bly manor on Netflix and it is so creepy , it’s a haunted house tv show I give it 10 out of whatever. Theees little kids who live there and they talk to the ghosts that live there and they’re all preppy and stuff. I’m saying this because I’d like to do a real review but can’t

A rich meaningful life can still be led without the distractions of popular culture, even today. Take solace in that. Maybe look for things you can do to help the people around you, your family etc.

I let the recent season of Fargo accumulate on my DVR and watched it all over the weekend. It was very good but it wasn't really compelling. Fargo always seems to capture the mood and atmosphere better than maybe any TV show and the cinematography is as always top notch.

It did have a couple of wtf plot holes and it also featured one of my least favorite actors of all time (Schwartzman). But even so I enjoyed it but probably not as much as previous seasons.

Just realized that I can now watch season 3 of Detectorists, one of my very favorite recent shows, by using the free trial week of AcornTV on Amazon Prime, woohoo I'm psyched.

If anyone was looking for a good true crime doc to watch and thought about giving The Ripper a try...keep looking, it's not good.

If you're looking for a good absurdist sketch comedy to watch, Aunty Donna's Big Ol' House of Fun might just scratch that itch. As with all sketch shows, not everything lands, but the ones that do are great. Be warned though, it's WAY out there, so it's likely one of those shows you either love or are left wondering wtf you are watching.

A few episodes in to Search Party and plan to finish the season, although it's unclear at this point how good the story is. The characters and dialogue are generally funny so I'm going to keep it moving.

Saw a rec online for MI-5 as being somewhat similar to The Bureau so I'll give that a shot, even though I'm skeptical that any spy program could be in the same company as the Bureau.

I watched all of The Queen's Gambit over Xmas. I haven't watched a contemporary TV drama in a long time. It was well done and all, and I liked the painstaking periodness of it. But it's ridiculous. Just make more episodes of The Master Game, which was the best TV ever.

Where can I watch MI-5 in the US? I'm a big fan of spy stuff.

Another decent one is Berlin Station on Epix. Not in the class of The Bureau but fairly good.

I think the best way is to get Britbox on Prime for $6.99 a month.

Not sure if it'll help but MI5 is confusing me so you can also look up the original UK name Spooks.
