We are about 4 or 5 episodes into The Leftovers. I think several here recommended it. I'm on the fence. Did someone say stick with it?
The first 5 episodes are among the worst rated episodes in the series. The Holy Wayne episode is when it starts getting good, I think that is Ep6. Stick with it.
Man, it's tough. I was a senior in college in Florida, and every shuttle launch, a bunch of us would go down to the beach for an early-morning bonfire and party and watch the launch way down the coast. Could always see a thin. white line go up in the sky.
I remember seeing the line just kind of stop and spread out...we didn't realize anything bad had happened until we went to class that day. All classes were canceled.
For those of us around back then, especially in Florida, the space shuttle program was a thing of great pride, and this was utterly shocking. Akin to JFK being shot in Dallas for a previous generation.
Utopia (the American version) is about to be released tomorrow. No way that it can be as good as the UK original, but here's to hoping it remains solid enough

Thanks for the headsup. So far I've loved anything I've seen with which Gillian Flynn has been involved (Sharp Objects, Gone Girl), so am definitely interested in checking this out.

Have you seen the original Utopia? Man, it was elite af The pace was frantic and captivating, storyline very original and it rapidly snuck into my top 10 of all time even if it got cancelled after 2 seasons!!!

Finished Justified after starting it towards the beginning of the year. Overall, a phenomenal show, and if I could redo my Best TV Shows of the Decade entry in the OOTV poll, it'd definitely make my list somewhere in the bottom half. Kudos to the people in that thread for piquing my interest in it.
Some seasons were better than others (a lot of the differently-formatted s1 isn't great and the show benefits tremendously from the shift to a more serialized format; s5 was also relatively meh compared to better seasons) but every season was worth watching.
Best 1a-1b punch of leading characters possibly in any show I've watched. On a related note, this show had some absolutely sick casting. Can't imagine any other actors playing so many of the characters, especially Raylan and Boyd.
Absolutely amazing what a great job the show did creating very entertaining and original secondary and tertiary characters, too.
Very distinctive comedic tone that was the nuts as well.
My girlfriend hasn't seen it so we just started it. I'm definitely enjoying the rewatch. She can't understand what the hell I'm laughing at half the time though, not knowing the characters.
I'd heard very good things about season 1 of The Terror so I'm trying it, 4 episodes in now. It's good, I'm glad I tried it. Lots of good things, I mean just the stark icebound ships trapped for months with **** going crazy horribly bad, that's all money. Jared Harris is great as usual, Richard Harris's son btw. His backstory works. And it looks so great, the dark blue uniforms against the oceans of white ice. But practically speaking it's been a lot of rando sailors getting torn up, over and over. Oh and the whole noble savage Eskimo angle with mysterious spirituality/witchcraft I could do without, same old same old.
I ended up liking The Terror quite a bit and hereby strengthen my endorsement, season 1 I mean. Not sure I'll even try season 2, it's evidently a totally different thing and made by different people.
I had binge-watched the first three seasons of The Good Place about 9-10 months ago and then was disheartened to learn that Netflix didn't as yet have the fourth and final season available for streaming. That changed two weeks ago and I finally got to watch the final season.
I was mostly disappointed in the final season and even contemplated discontinuing my binging about half-way through. Boy am I glad I made it to the end. The series finale made the slog through the final season worthwhile. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that it was one of my all-time favorite series finales. Just an unbelievably fantastic way for the show to end.
