This. It took me until the end of S1 to really get into it, as the introduction of the abundance of characters, (the seemingly) lack of direction in the storytelling and the eerily world they were trying to create takes time to take in. But it is worth it. And S2 >>> S1

I just finished a rewatch of The Shield. It will definitely be worth your time.

The Sopranos
Breaking Bad
The Shield

I'm actually in the middle of a Sopranos rewatch right now, and it's hard to imagine a show will ever be this good again. And Gandolfini gives the GOAT TV performance. Clear #1 imo.

As far as one season shows go, Band of Brothers obv.

Never seen The Leftovers...might have to check that out next.

I LOL'd. Shakespeare couldn't write something that good in his dreams.
i've always thought of Deadwood as Shakespearean, but i suppose that's mainly because of the prose. The Wire is more Shakespearean in regards to plot.

It's in my top 5. Do it, you won't regret it. Best pilot/finale combo in history imo.

The first season of Fargo has to get some consideration for top stand alone seasons. I've liked them all, but damn, Billy Bob Thornton sure is entertaining.

It's worth it, the show is elite.

Terriers was a great 1 season show. I know there are a couple more I cant think of.

Mr Robot s3 was 5th on my elite season list. Kept trying to put it on but Das Boot is amazing.

Sopranos does not hold up well, sorry. And it was overrated at the time. Top-notch dramas got much better since Jan 1999 when it came out.

Some excellent eps of course, like Pine Barrens.

I’m embarrassed to say I’ve never seen an episode of The Sopranos. I guess I should make that a priority

Agree, and the later seasons really suffered by having to watch Meadow and AJ try to act as their roles grew and grew.

having to watch Meadow, AJ, and Janice almost made me take a four-pronged fork to my eyeballs.

Yeah, don't let these latest comments put you off. Not sure where this "doesn't hold up" nonsense is coming from, because it definitely does.

Cassidy in The Shield was the worst child actress ever, lol. So much so that I looked her up to see who on the sets kid she was. Turns out she's Chiklis' kid. So bad.

2 eps into Outcry. I'm enjoying it. No idea what's going to happen, so please don't spoil. If you like Making A Murderer type shows + football, probably a good watch.

Watched The Shield pilot yesterday. Now that is how you start a show. The only negative is that it looks like it was shot in the 80's.

Exactly. Plus the Dr Melfi gets raped storyline was incredibly bad and 'very special episode[s]' given her relationship with Tony.

today is episode 5 today of I'll Be Gone In The Dark

episode 4 was different. how Michelle, in a text exchange with her husband, eerily foreshadowed what I assume was her death, mere hours later as she slept. (episode 4 ended right there, without resolving that question obvs. lol)

I need more comedy!

Lol that is not a comedy

Hearing Oswalt’s 911 call about is wife was just devastating.

The Shield has the goat first/last episode combo.

Justified is easily in my top 5.

Just started Fosse/Verdon, seems top notch. The 2 leads are amazing, Sam Rockwell and Michelle Williams, you can see why they're both legit movie stars. Frankly it makes you think that Hollywood should be making a lot better movies, keeping actors of this caliber busy.
