River (2015 prime) season one six-episode police procedural and deeply psychological drama starring Skarsgard as John River ,an older, skillful London police detective. The show is unique in that it uses his lifelong malady of visual hallucinations of people talking to him to depict his thoughts and emotions. He is in deep grief when his beloved long time female detective partner is surprisingly murdered almost before his eyes for unknown reasons. He becomes obsessed with solving the case and finds out more secrets than he ever wanted to know. Well-written and well acted but dark. Easy to binge watch and improves as it goes on, imo.

This weekend I blew through all 20 episodes of Cobra Kai and loved every second of it. Can't wait for the new season whenever it comes.

I'm about six years late to the party, but I've just started watching The Flash this week, starting with S1E1. I've watched 20 episodes so far and this is already becoming my favorite guilty pleasure. The show is extremely campy, but it is still very good for what it is. Not in an Emmy-award kind of way of course, but the kind of superhero show that winks at the audience and knows it's limitations. My favorite episode so far is one that features Mark Hamill chewing the scenery as a Joker-like super-villain. Not because of the plot, but because of the greatest piece of fan service in the history of movies or tv:

Being a different story isn't the problem. The problem is that the season 2 story just isn't close to being as good as season 1.

Yeah, for whatever reason the S2 story just didn't appeal to me so never gave it a shot. S1 was absolutely captivating though and one of my favorite recent shows.

I watched the first three as well. Its a documentary of the growth and decline of a real life creepy cult over a ten year period. Apparently remnants of it carry on. It was ironic to hear a NXIVM cult leader disparaging Scientology as a harmful cult when they end up doing similar brainwashing and extortion and worse. Since a filmmaker was involved and actively recording from the start they have tons of footage they want to show. It almost a guide to how to build a cult. I don't know if I can watch all nine episodes of this.

Someone suggested Succession to us so we gave it a look. Hopefully the series is as fantastic as the first episode.

We are about 4 or 5 episodes into The Leftovers. I think several here recommended it. I'm on the fence. Did someone say stick with it?
