TV: what have you been watching? TV: what have you been watching?

Came across an article on BBC.com entitled The Best TV Shows That You've Never Heard Of. I was looking for something light or funny to watch because I had spent the first half of the weekend re-watching Chernobyl on HBO with my wife as she had never seen it. I decided to try out a romantic comedy called Lovesick ostensibly about a guy who finds out he has Chlamydia and has to search out all of his old sexual partners and inform them. But that's not really the main emphasis of each episode.

I have to admit that the main reason that I decided to give Lovesick a try was that I got a chuckle out of its original series name: Scrotal Recall. I decided that that alone was worth tuning into an episode or two. As it turned out, I watched the first two entire seasons yesterday, albeit that only amounts to a grand total of fourteen 20-30 minute episodes. It's nothing deep or meaningful in any way, but I found it enjoyable. Here's a link to the BBC article, as well as a trailer for the tv series when it was first broadcast under its original title.

Scrotal Recall was probably already taken, by the same folks that brought us Saving Ryan's Privates and Forrest Hump.

It is just possible that Cagney and Lacey had slight undertones of female homosexual behaviour

If you haven’t seen it before “Edna, The inebriate woman” is worth a watch

The Monk-a-thon continues 24/7 at Villa Phat Mack. I have to pass through the room where it's playing every time I want a beer or a cup of coffee. My joy at its discovery remains unabated. Positively Shakespearean in its use of over-the-top characters, and reaches heights that are almost Columbo-esque when its irritating star dithers around annoying people, and then solves everything (Viola!) at the end.

I only watch it in 5-minutes segments, but clearly, it achieves greatness.

My wife read the Outlander books and loved them.

However, she has seen the actor and actress that play the leads and apparently, in her eyes, they don't live up to the characters. So, she has intentionally refused to watch this.

A relative of hers that also read the books has been telling her that the actors will grow on her and that the series is really good so she finally succumbed.

Not really my cup of tea. I'm not sure why, really. Seems a little slow. It just isn't grabbing me. My wife is enjoying it somewhat just because it seems to follow the books well, but she isn't over the top loving it. We will give it some time.

Am having a hard time finding some tv shows that both my gf and I love... Preferably good sci-fi shows that involves a lot of action. Any suggestions? Sense 8 any good?

I'm watching Poldark on Amazon, it's one of those classy BBC shows, I like it. This Poldark guy is brooding, passionate, and catnip to the ladies. He reminds me a lot of myself, well a 1700s British version of my bad Texas redneck self anyway.

Watched half of Normal People so far, would give it 4/5 stars. Typically excellent BBC co-production, and having the author as a screenwriter always helps. [12 half-hour eps]

Also the main characters get naked a lot, if that's your thing.

Am I the only one who had a problem watching two high-schoolers get naked?

I mean, I like it, but I shouldn't, you know?

And the lead is so ridiculously beautiful, that it kind of ruins the whole "outcast" thing she's supposed to have going on.

I only watched half of the 1st episode but if you are saying they are high schoolers? Doesn't matter anyway, she is 22 and he is 24 IRL.

Same as 13 reasons why, that has 25 to 32 year olds playing high school kids.

I would say Marianne is pretty but not 'ridiculously beautiful.'

In the book she also has crooked teeth but we certainly couldn't have a lead with a 'British smile,' now could we? [BigBookofBritishSmiles.jpg]

Agree that IRL she probably wouldn't be an outcast, but a HS girl who tells people, constantly, that she's smarter than them, tells off her teachers, and says that she's 'too good' for her classmates certainly could make you one. At least where I grew up it probably would, 2bly so if you weren't popular to begin with.

anyway, as someone pointed out she's like 22, if you want to see teen girls get naked there's lotsa pr0n for that, some of which includes actual teen girls not that you didn't know that already. I don't think anyone is watching this show to see her topless, really.

no, it's fine, it just makes ME uncomfortable. It doesn't have to make you uncomfortable. The older I get, the less I want to see sex scenes in movies. They're always awkward and I feel bad for the actors involved.

If I want to see sex, I'll just watch porn lol

Spoiler:
however, I will always want to watch Phoebe Cates getting out of that pool and undoing her top on an endless loop. Duh.

Well going forward, because of Covid-19 restrictions, you won't see any sex scenes that are real or up close fight scenes or lots of other things on new episodes and shows coming soon.
