Just finished the first season of True Detective I like Woody in pretty much everything but Matthew is hit or miss for me most of the time. Hit with this one. Enjoyed it all.

I've heard that subsequent seasons aren't nearly as good. Worth continuing or not?

Definitely worth continuing, but make sure to lower significantly your expectations before viewing Season 2 is good while season 3 is pretty good, me thinks, but none can parallel season 1 (which I believe to be a top 5 season ever in the history of television).

do NOT watch season 2.

the seasons are not connected in away way so there is no reason whatsoever to watch season 2 just skip to season 3.

and while season 3 is worth watching it's not anywhere near the same level as season 1.

Season 1 is so good.

Season 2 and 3 are on a par with each other imo, they are both flawed, but in different ways.

Thanks for the feedback. It will be on our backup list for now.

Just finished the first season of Big Little Lies. We really liked it and we'll jump right into season 2 immediately.

Just finished season 2 of Mindhunter on Netflix and enjoyed it. Interesting and very well done.

I was kinda meh on season one of Big Little Lies and quit a couple of episodes into season 2. Good acting performances but the storyline and characters do nothing for me.

I thought the writing was near perfect.

I thought S1 was very overrated. S2 got a bad rap, it's not bad at all, and if it is bad, it's nowhere near the catastrophe it's made out to be here. I enjoyed S2 and S3 both. If you're going to put them on the backup list put them near the top.

I really want to like Mindhunter, but man, they don't make it easy. On paper, this show should be right in my wheelhouse, but mostly it's just a slog to get through.

The interviews are good, but most of the rest of it is average at best. I like the BTK teasers too, but that makes up like 5 minutes of the total runtime. A season focusing on him has the potential to be great, but they'd wanna get to it soon or I'll probably just completely lose interest.

With better writers, this show could be elite. And the guy that plays Ford still sucks. Watching this just makes me appreciate Zodiac even more...

my favorite bit in the Office will always be Dwight's fire-drill. Everyone is involved and everyone has great bits in it. Especially when Oscar tells Angela that she's too heavy to lift, and she replies, "But I only weight 96 pounds!"

Shame it petered out at the end as there were so many great scenes in The Office - CPR, Prison Mike, Jim dressing as Dwight, in fact all Jim's pranks. Damn I want to re-watch it now...

Funny, I said in the Netflix thread that I'm rewatching The Office (US) now. I work a lot from home and have had it on in the background. Even when I'm not fully paying attention, it's funny; and even when it isn't LOL-LMAO funny, it's very entertaining. The writing is fantastic.

The American Office is a fine show for a mainstream sitcom, excellent in fact. Held its quality over several seasons too, despite the wheels coming off at the last.

Getting into Veep, what a show! Can’t remember lol’ing at the tv this much since....Curbed or Arrested Development I think? All three shows base their humor on morally f*cked up people, which is something I just find endlessly funny (Eastbound and the original Office come to mind as well).

Pretty awesome to see both LD and JLD go on to make world-class shows separately.

Side note: if anyone is interested, Julia Louis-Dreyfus went on Bill Simmon’s podcast and it was one of my favorite episodes ever. She’s just an amazingly candid, genuine, whip-smart, funny-as-hell woman, and her back & forth with BS is superb...in part bc Bill is such a sick tv junkie he has no problem serving up great questions the entire time. She even remarks at some point how impressed she is with his encyclopedic tv knowledge ha.

She talks about everything you’d want to talk about and doesn’t pull any punches, any Seinfeld fan will for sure like it. She really enjoys herself during it and I came away absolutely smitten with her.

She's amazing, no doubt about it. I can still remember her killing in a supporting role on a long-forgotten sitcom called about a day care center in the late 80s, I think it was right after her stint on SNL, very early. She owned that show, every line, in fact she was way better than the 2 leads, one had been the girl reporter on Lou Grant btw.

Heh, my first instinct was Step By Step but then I remembered that being one of those awful Friday shows on ABC. Day By Day = day care, that's right. It wasn't a bad show but she was sure carrying it.

I'm ripping thru season 4 of Better Call Saul which I finally got from the library on dvd. It's the best show on tv right now imo, top notch all the way. Watching the last ep right now, it's a solid season but not up there with 2 and 3 for me just cause Chuck dying meant no more Chuck vs. Jimmy dynamics, that was epic stuff.
