I'm hoping it gets better, halfway through season 1.
It's called entertainment. Obviously if you don't like over the top characters and violence it won't be your cup of tea. But if you like a wide array of interesting over the top badass characters and lots of action its just what the doctor ordered. As the characters develop they become very interesting (Job and Sugar are hilarious) and the action is off the hook. When Bow Tie/glasses fights the Indian Girl it may be the greatest episode of TV ever

I can't make my mind up about HBO's Succession. It is an original premise but it seems horribly miscast. The whole seems lesser than the sum of its parts.

I think it kind of sucks. It's just way too soapy for my tastes and I hate all of the characters. But I'll probably give it another episode or two since its summer and not much else on but I get less interested in each episode. But original? It's just rich douchebags screwing each other over (ie Dallas, Dynasty any daytime soap).

You didn't like the original Dallas?

I absolutely loved the original Dallas. But Dallas had a wider array of far more interesting characters. This show however seems to take the worst attributes of night time soap operas and every character seems to be an unlikeable douchebag.

Banshee is one wail of a show imo!

The show is largely carried by the AMAZING supporting cast. All of the parents, her manager, and her friends are absolutely wonderful.

I just binge-watched all 8 episodes. Although some of the episodes were a little uneven, I thoroughly enjoyed the entire season and am already looking forward to season 2 in November (?). Although as noted above, the scenes with Tony Shalhoub and Kevin Pollack are gold, I think my favorite performance/character is Alex Borstein as Susie Myerson. She steals every scene she's in.

For those completely unfamiliar with his series, here's a trailer that Amazon uploaded last year:

I normally can't stand retro-80's stuff, but Glow has me hooked. A perfect comedy for the #MeToo era. Also worth watching is GLOW: The Story of The Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling, Netflix's documentary of the real-life Glow wrestlers

This seems like a pretty fair assessment, though I'm not sure anyone under the age of fifty-five can necessarily be a Dallas or Dynasty follower.

Maybe "original" is a not a particularly good choice of description, but maybe "timely" in that the Murdoch's and Redstone's issues come to life.

Is Ray Donovan any good? Looking for something new to watch that already has at least a few seasons under its belt.

I really enjoyed Glow, I think season 2 has just started on Netflix.

Does Ozark really not have its own thread in OOTV? Watched the first episode and feeling a bit meh about it but will probably give it another episode before I'm at risk of bailing.

If you weren’t a big fan of the pilot then you probably shouldn’t continue watching. The pilot was one of the better episodes of the season.

Finished "The Vietnam War" on netflix by Ken Burns & Lynn Novick.

Very good documentary despite the length, it was good to see that there was also quite some footage and interviews with the south/north Vietnamese and Vietcong as part of this.

The biggest problem that seems to cause most problems in the world seems to be that we don't try to understand the perspective of others, mostly because we are put in situations where it's impossible to do so. It's very tough to find any solution for this problem, a problem that right now is still causing massive issues everywhere in the world.

Just finished season 2 of Handmaid's tale. I was sort of meh on the first few episodes but got really hooked as it went on. It really sucked us in.

Some absolutely brutal scenes.

Did not see the end coming.

I agree with this. The pilot hooked me and it was downhill from there. I thought it was just an average show.

Turn off your brain and enjoy the ride. Banshee knows exactly what kind of show it is and it never deviates from that. Everything is over the top and it stays that way until the end.

I tried to watch it a few times over the years and never got into and Seinfeld was one of my favorites.

New Girl came on syndication on tbs. I watched most of it. I liked the characters. They took it off tbs though except at like 4:30am.

The Bruce Willis roast was decent...but the highlight was Edward Norton going on a brilliant rant for fifteen minutes.
