Godless was simply amazing. It also had the most epic showdown known to westerns. Enuff said

Waco - Madman or Messiah A&E documentary about the standoff with the Branch Davidians that, to put it mildly, ended poorly. The documentary has quite a bit of footage of Koresh and the actual standoff.

I probably wouldn't have watched this, except for the fact that I actually work with one of the survivors. I don't know her well but I've talked to her (not about this) and she sat in the cube next to me for about 3 months.

I turned the documentary on just to see if I might see some reference to her. Daaayyyyuuummm..... She's probably the most interviewed in the documentary. Crazy crazy stuff. I'm sure everyone has seen a ton of documentaries or footage about some eventful moment in history where they interview someone that was there. But, actually seeing someone you know and have talked to is sooooo weird.

Still not finished, but so far I think the documentary stands up on it's own. It is pretty interesting. But it is absolutely riveting to me to watch someone you sat next to telling all about it.

If you've never watched AFV, I'd suggest starting at Season 1. The series presents WWII from a very different POV.
That sounds interesting...where can I see it?

Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee is maybe the best show ever. I can't stop binging it.

Probably but they are very different. For some reason I stopped watching Shameless after season 5 (basically forgot to add to autorecord when I changed cable companies). But over the last 2 weeks I have been mega marathoning it watching seasons 6, 7 and 8. I have 3 episodes of season 8 left which I will likely knock off this weekend and go into Shameless withdrawl

I definitely like Shameless more than 6 Feet Under although Shameless often veers into ridiculous situations.

6fu is one of my favorites and my fiance and I just marathoned shameless. I wouldn't really compare them personally, shameless is really light compared to 6fu, but we both enjoy it for that.

On Mhz Choice which is available on Roku or now on Amazon as an add-on. It is a French-made series about the surrender, occupation, resistance, victory, and post-war trials of WWII from the POV of a French village.

My jaw just kept dropping farther and farther as the documentary went along. I don't want to spoiler this but it is worth watching until the end.

I liked The End of the ****ing World quite a bit. Good-hearted yet darkly comic teenage crime spree/road trip action.

Shameless and Six Feet Under are both great shows, really top notch stuff. I'd say Shameless comes at you from more of a gonzo attitude but both are life-affirming despite some dark subject matter.

As a Mancunian lad, I naturally loved the original Shameless. I have to admit though, the US remake is terrific and well worth watching.

Altered Carbon http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2261227/
An immortal man enlists the help of the 250 year old conciousness of a convicted terrorist to help him solve his own murder.
7 eps into this and loving every one so far. Solid Netflix Original sci-fi.

Uhg! Very difficult for me to get through the first episode. I may or may not try one more when I have time or am bored. But the first episode did nothing for me. Then again I'm not a sci fi fan but can enjoy it if it is really special. This doesn't seem so special to me.

When characters randomly switched from speaking English to subtitled gibberish and back to English in the same conversation I knew I automatically hated whoever made that ridiculous decision.

I don't know if I can bring myself to give a US remake another try after I watched the US remake of Skins

Finished it today and enjoyed it start to finish. It's not for everyone but the
more you're into sci-fi the more you're likely to enjoy it.

Looking forward to Altered Carbon.

Seems like the last few years have been really good for science fiction? Just off the top of my head there's Deus Ex, The Arrival, BR2049. On TV there's Black Mirror, Altered Carbon, The Expanse, Westworld. Feels like the genre of sci-fi took a break for a while and now is back with some fresh ideas.

I found last nights X-Files about AI run amuck to be one of the most entertaining episodes of TV I have seen in a while.

I was a big X-Files fan back in the day but I find these new ones very hit or miss and often internet surf my way through each episode. But this one grabbed me early and I was riveted even though you could see where it was going.

Watched the first season of The Detectorists on Netflix (based on recommendations from the OOTV 2p2 thread). Fantastic British show, can't recommend highly enough. Written and created by Mackenzie Crook from the Office. I guess you could call it a comedy (each ep is 30 mins, only 6 eps per season), but it is a very hard show to categorize. About 2 friends obsessed with metal detecting, but don't let that stop you. It's not really about plot. Heartfelt and somewhat melancholy, but still funny also. Different in the best possible way. Very British.

It reminds me quite a bit in feel of the Scottish movie Local Hero, one of my all-time favorite films.

Last episode of Waco.

I don't think I've ever been more horrified watching a TV show. I knew what happened, but seeing this dramatized, and from the POV of the Branch Davidians just made it somehow real.

I'm speechless.

Just devastated that our government can do such things.
