Absolutely devastating. And remarkable.
I might have gone through a roll of paper towel. Brutal and sad.

Really ended up hating LBJ, Nixon and various USA politicians and generals. Plus the post ww2 colonialists ****s. Ugh.

The Office (UK) Hilarious and charming. I haven't seen the US version but the UK version is 12 episodes + a 90 min Christmas special. A mockumentary series based on the mundane daily lives of an office in Slough, England. The main focus is inept boss David Brent, played brilliantly by Ricky Gervais, and made him a star.

I have always liked the US version more, until season 8 that is.

I'm starting to watch the US version now. The first US episode is basically a remake of the first UK episode. I heard it really starts to become its own thing in the 2nd season.

Yes, season 1 is pretty much the same as UK version. Season 2 its gets very good.

I'm still watching but can confirm how great the Vietnam war documentary is.

I was sort of young when it all started but I certainly remember a lot of it. But, a lot of it I was just oblivious to. I certainly didn't know the history (French occupation, etc.) or understand the politics within Vietnam. Very interesting.

It is definitely heart wrenching. And maddening.

I don't want to politard here, but what struck me more than anything is we are still doing the same crap we did back then. It doesn't seem as if we have learned anything. /politard

It grabbed us at first but we've sort of lost interest. It just seems a little over the top. Don't hate it or anything, just other things we would rather watch right now. We'll probably get back to it at some point.

Yeah, I had the same reaction. There's nothing wrong or bad about it, but somehow I just stopped watching after six episodes. I guess it's facile to compare it to Breaking Bad, but to me it does seem like BB but without BB's quirky charm.

Very easy to compare it to BB imo due to the premise. I thought that after the first episode it was going to be BB but at a much quicker pace. In the end I was very disappointed.

Watched Lava Fields, an Icelandic crime fiction mini-series, on Netflix, not great, but very good and I enjoy the Nordic noir attitude.

Watching the first season of Witnesses on Netflix, a French police procedural series. It has been above average through three episodes. A second season is in production.

Along the same lines is Hinterland, a Welsh language crime fiction series of three seasons; again very good, but not great.

I second the review about Ozark grabbing at first but losing interest. Got a little ridiculous as it wore on. Not gonna spoil anything but think it was mistake at end to get ride of the character they did.

Been busy the last few weeks, so I'm a little late with this, but here's what I'm looking forward to in October:

October TV Preview

Couple of shorter (both 6 episodes) things I'm enjoying.

Back - new show from the Peep Show team.

This Country - great mockumetary about small town rural Enland. As someone who's just moved from a big city to near where this show is set, it can be a bit close to the bone.

new season of Mr. Robot, the most ambitious and non-standard TV show on the air, premiered last night. Glad it's back.

I loved season 1 but found season 2 hard to keep my focus and haven't watched beyond episode 3, anyone else feel this way?

Season 2 was brilliant, but not standard TV fare, and I can certainly see not sticking with it.

I think the issue for me is that show is not lazy TV and you have to pay attention to really follow whats happening and I'm usually futzing around on the internet, half-heartedly paying attention

I thought season one was okay at best and I couldn't get into season 2 at all. I watched the first couple and quit. I am perfectly content without Mr. Robot in my life

Mr Robot lost me by the end of episode 2. I thought the best thing was the intro.

Yeh I got about half way through S2 in a couple of sessions then just never felt the urge to watch another. I admit though, like yimyammer, I'm a bit of a 'bad' TV watcher.

It's one I can feel I'll always mean to watch (because it's clearly good TV) but will never actually bother to get round to it.

Well put, I was the same way about Arrested Development. I loved watching it but whenever I was given the choice to watch the next episode, I found myself feeling disinterested, its odd on my part.

I love the vibe Mr Robot conveys on film and the story seems well conceived yet I'm so close to deleting it from my DVR

Solid Netflix original series. I was hooked from the start.

I didn't mind the movie much even though it was nothing special. But the tv show is just awful. The makers should have decided at the offset what it was going to be, comedy, drama, thriller, the choices were there. Instead they seemed to have changed their minds with every episode and have ended up with an aimless mess that's just distracting, annoying and a waste of effort imo.
