A top ten list is always constrained by limitations.

I agree with everything you say here!

I watched Ikiru again today. As the song goes, life is brief.

Home of the Clermont Set. Gianni Agnelli, Lord Lucan, Adnan Khashoggi... you get the idea.

I'm sure you're one of the few that would get my allusion.

I think Nat King Cole might be the GOAT singer.

perhaps, if we're only considering men

Etta James, GOAT for female singer, is a good choice.

Please listen to Johnny Hartman, but I love Nat King Cole, and if you put those two names together, well . . . .

i like the Maddux, a shutout of 9 or more innings with under 100 pitches.
records only go back to 1988 when pitch tracking changed.
Maddux has the most with 13, Halladay the only person to do it in 10 innings, and Leiber the fewest with 78 pitches

The Maddux is a good one. I like the Gordie Howe hat trick too (a goal, an assist and a fight)

And don't forget the Jabbar/Alcindor sky hook

On the opposite end of the Maddux was Bill Lee who might throw a 150 pitch shutout.

or the Marichal. - pitch the ball, hit the ball, hammer the catcher

Thinking about Marichal got me thinking about his windup, which got me thinking about Luis Tiant's windup, whereupon a google revealed that Tiant is not in the Hall of Fame.

I don't have a Top Ten List of players who should be in the HOF but aren't, but Luis Tiant would be on it if I did. Also Pete Rose.

I agree about Rose. Let the poor sob in - the guy he passed for all-time hits leader was no choir boy...
