Came across this video on Youtube that purports to list the Top Ten Greatest Closing Lines in Movies, and I thought it would be a fun subject for discussion here.

I won't delineate the movies or the lines here before we get started with the discussion because that might take away from your enjoyment of watching the video the first time and discovering what's on the list or playing along and trying to figure out which movie/line ends at #1.

I will say that I strongly concur with some on the list and strongly disagree with others. I'll also say that I think it is a travesty that they left off one of the most iconic lines of all time from the entire list, although they did include it as an honorable mention. Well, without further ado, here's the video countdown:

"Louie, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship."

This is where it all started.

This closing line is written, but I always found it profound:
"I never had any friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?"

It wasn't first, second or third.

The ending of my favorite movie.

"I guess I could be pretty pissed off about what happened to me, but it's hard to stay mad when there's so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I'm seeing it all at once and it's too much. My heart fills up like a balloon that's about to burst. And then I remember to relax and stop trying to hold on to it. And then it flows through me like rain, and I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life. You have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm sure. But don't worry: you will someday."

Absolutely one of my all-time favorite movies, but I don't agree that the last line is great or classic, just a cute way to end the movie.

(Although I believe the actual line is "Well, nobody's perfect.")

Another classic! I can't fathom how they left it off their list.

"There's a lot to be said for making people laugh! Did you know that's all some people have? It isn't much, but it's better than nothing in this cockeyed caravan! Boy!" From Sullivan's Travels, one of my favorite movies.

"Thank you for coming back to me," says the husband to his wife at the end of Brief Encounter.

And because I'm a hopeless romantic of sorts: "Eliza? Where the devil are my slippers?"

Because it's not the last line of the movie.

First line that came to my mind was "Nobody's perfect". Funniest ending I've seen.

Damn you're right! Probably hadn't seen it in 15 years and I thought she just sobbed, rewatched and she did say a couple lines.

I have no idea what the nobody's perfect is from.

Edit: Googled. Got Hannah Montana. Added in "end of movie". It's probably my age, but I can't imagine watching Some Like it Hot to get to the end of the movie.
