I think the cases here are like $40 so that's pretty good.

Had this last night on draft. I have to say I wasn't a huge fan of it. It was a little too "grapey" for me. I should have tried the Palo Santo Marron. Has anyone had that?

Also, picked up a bottle of World Wide Stout by Dog Fish Head. I've heard only amazing things about it. Will let you know how it is.

It was different. You werent the first person I'd heard say too, so I was was prepared for something weird. I liked it though. Nice aroma. Seemed very fresh. Taste was just different than any other DIPA I've ever had. Pretty bitter. Alcohol seemed very well hidden for 10%. I'm glad Ive got a few more left. I'd recommend anyone give it a shot if they have access to it.

I can get Hop Stoopid in a 22oz at my local beer distributor, the 103 or whatever IBU stamp scares me though, lol.

I'm not the biggest Lagunitas fan in the world, but they have great prices. Give the Hop Stoopid a shot. Its nothing to be intimidated by.

The 2009 Correction Ale was by far my favorite Lagunitas beer. Their Dogtown Pale ale is also really good.

While I know it's not an option for everyone, but if you are in Boston. Go on the brewery tour and then head to Doyle's (they'll mention it on the tour as it is one of the first two bars to place an order for Sam Adams) and you will get the glass for free with your beer (might only be valid on Saturdays). I have two now and they are great.

You can also head to the other side of town by the harbor and go on a Harpoon tour. At the end you can buy a growler filled right from the tap with something that you can't get in stores.

Also, if you want a Newcastle glass. You can get one by mailing in 6 bottle caps and this form. (Some lucky states don't even need the caps).

Where's my Dark Lord!!!

I have a buddy in SF that will ship some pliny the elder out here (younger is only available for one day, he tried but the line was too long and he had a pregnant wife with him). I'll figure out shipping costs and go in on it with you if you want, you can just pay me when it's in your hand, since it's not really the end of the world if you bail on me and I have 2x pliny laying around, think i can find something to do with em

Metropolitan Brewery. If you haven't had any of their beers yet, do yourself a favor and buy a sixer or two of some fresh, tasty lager!

Re: TLDR Beer Club

GUBNA is more expensive than Ten Fidy, which is borderline outrageous to begin with. I think the four-packs here go for ~$17. I love Oskar Blues, but I'll stick with Dale's Pale or Gordon when I reach for their beers.

Wookie,

Overall, how did you like the brew day?

$17! Wow.....my Colorado guy quoted me at 12.99. Not a bad price imo.....obviously though its cheaper in its home state.

I have the O'Dells IPA in my hand right now. Very nice citrusy flavor. They serve it on tap at my 2nd favorite casino.

Great beer. At 18% you would thing it would be grossly overpowering, but it really wasn't. The dark stoutness of it masked the alcohol content very well and it had a great taste. Kind of smokey and sweet..I tasted a bit of soy sauce.

Would recommend, even though it was expensive as hell.

Re: TLDR Beer Club

have some free time so i thought id throw up a review of the most recent interesting thing i have drank. Devil Dancer (2010 batch just came out recently) is a bit of a hoppy mess. a lot of conflicting hop profiles going on that make it resinous with none of the complex 11 different hop flavors pulling through. bitter hop bomb. (12% abv "triple IPA")

3/5 rating

pdoran, I haven't had that beer in awhile but based on my memory I agree with everything that you said.

Not a bad beer by any stretch, you won't regret drinking it (aside from 12% abv maybe kicking your ass a bit), but nothing that you'll brag about and definitely not something that hits near the top of your expectations. Good review.

Re: TLDR Beer Club

Had this Firestone 13 Anniversary Ale yesterday, is an American Strong Ale. It was really good. Really complex with all kinds of layers to it. Changed as the temp changed, all in good ways too!

I like the Palo Santo Marron in the winter. It's aroma is very full and present from a couple of feet away. It also improves and changes significantly as it warms. One thing that I have noticed about this beer is that the flavor seems front loaded. You get quite a bit of roasty chocolatey, caramelly, vanillaly malt at the beginning but it dissipates quickly compared to other stouts and porters.

Also, this beer is great with spicy meats, cheeses as well as desserts.

Re: TLDR Beer Club

Just some beers I have been enjoying for the past month.
From the top: 3Floyds Blackheart English style IPA very good
New Holland Dragons Milk awesome creamy dark high alcohol
3Floyds Dreadnaught and Lou Malnati's super hoppy
Ommegang Belgian Ale didn't like it.
Founders Red's Rye mmm delicious and red
Stone Russian Imperial Stout lacked the delicious fruitiness of darklord
Chimay Blue: couldn't ask for anything smoother. but boring
also: Surly Bender and two lim. ed. 3 floyds at Hopleaf
Lost Abbey Belgian, Dogfish HEad Hopricot at Map Room
Racer5 IPA, Bell's Oberon, Goose Island Green Line, etc

RDH,

Brewing was pretty fun, but not something I would necessarily get excited about on its own. Of course, we were using a pretty straightforward style (by design) to learn the basics rather than trying to make anything exotic. It's probably more fun when you're trying out more things. I'm looking forward to the results, though!

Silkyslim,

respek for the Tripel Karmeliet glass. I have the same one

I was under the impression from the little Squall video on the DFH website that this was closer to a west coast style hop bomb DIPA as they had taken the regular 90min and then added a bunch more hops during dry hopping. However, as I said, the aroma and taste were decidedly similar to the 90min.
