I've also had a few Hop Stoopids in the last few weeks. I know a few people have reviewed it already (possibly including me? I don't remember) so I won't bother now but I really like it and it always seems like a great deal when $4-5 per 22oz.

Lagunitas is always a very fair deal. Keep an eye out for the Undercover Shutdown Ale too. I actually prefer that to Hop Stoopid.

Drinking it now. It isnt bad, but I dont know that I'll buy it again. A little over-carbonated, maybe a little too malty for my liking. Its 9.1% and the alcohol isnt hidden all that well, like some other great DIPAs.

That said, at $5.50, the price is certainly right. And the more I drink, the more I like it. All things considered, Id rate it 3.25/5.

I wasnt a big fan of the regular Dragonfly either, so if you like that definitely give this one a shot.

Very excited about this mini-haul. Arctic Panzer Wolf is another 3F DIPA, but it had a very limited release. Few stores got any and of those that did, I think most only got 1 case. I was resigned to missing out, but on a random visit to my local store I discovered they had just gotten a case and hadnt even put it on the floor yet.

I also got a single of what will be my first Old Rasputin. I'm trying to branch out a little on what I drink, so I picked up this highly regarded RIS. I drank a Victory Storm King several weeks ago and liked it, so I figured I'd try another RIS.

I'd be up for trading some Cigar City or St. Somewhere or growlers of some fine hefeweizen from the brewpub where I make beer occasionally for some Alpha Kings, which I've been dying to try for a while.

Not directed at anyone in particular.

shux, I'd send stuff you can get in your neighborhood of equal value just to try the stuff finally. I still think there is some good in the world...

This was my first ever Ommegang of any kind and I definitely look forward to trying more after this one. I don't know if I have ever drank a beer that had such a light mouthfeel yet was extremely flavorful. Timing allowed me to enjoy this with steamed mussels and they really complemented each other.
Bought a liter of Hennepin at the grocery store a little while back and absolutely loved it as well..

Will be buying another L or two soon

I'm fortunate enough to visit upstate NY a few times a year (a few hours from cooperstown where Ommegang is brewed). When I lived in LV I found it out there, so I'm sure you wouldn't have a problem finding it at a store with a lot of beer options.

I suspect your bottle is 25% smaller than you say, even if it's 25% more flavorful than you expect

Pliny takes more work as the distribute to NorCal and SoCal but not CenCal.... sucks! However, when I get to NorCal I pkup a bunch so maybe we can work something out.

Younger- that beer is special release in Feb every year before SF Beer Week... no bottles... only kegs (for the chosen few bars), growlers and on tap... it is a stellar triple IPA.

So I've been contemplating buying a set of those Sam Adams glasses from the commercials for a while, was having trouble pulling the trigger on $30+shipping for four glasses.. Went to the beer store today to find some brew I've never tried and they had two packs of the glasses for $10, ship it obv..

Before today I've never been a fan of IPA's whatsoever.. Perhaps I just had some that were too bitter at the time, but due to the talk of the DFH 120 I wanted to try some today.. Picked up a sixer of the DFH 60 IPA and I absolutely love it.. Here's a useless pic since it's probably a beer everyone has had before other than me, but who doesn't like a good beer pic.. notice the perfect pour

sorry if I rambled, I've had a few of these since I've been home

edit: highly recommend these glasses to any beer drinkers, even if you have to shell out the $30 from the website

Being a big Ommegang and Belgian Pale Ale fan, I jumped on this as soon as I saw it hit the shelves.

It has an uncanny resemblance to "my" beer I made earlier this year.

Very light, fairly crisp but theirs has a tiny bit more hop notes than mine.

Overall, I'd say it's closer to Hennepin than Rare Vos (their "other" Belgian Pale Ale)

I brewed beer today!

I'm thinking about getting into brewing, and the friend I know who brews himself is leaving town. This was my last opportunity to learn from him, and I'll likely buy his brewing gear off him for a cutrate price so he doesn't have to move it.

The beer we made was something of a messing-around amalgam. I have no idea if the beer will be any good, but this time was more about learning the process than about making perfect beer. We ended up with some malt extract and a pound of malt consistent with an English pale ale, perle and cascade hops more like an American pale ale, German hefe yeast because my gf likes the flavor of German hefes, and then about a half pound of English brown ale malt thrown in for good measure just because my friend had some extra around. If it comes out something like a malty dunkelweiss, I'll be pretty happy, but we'll see. I'll have pics later.

Had no idea Dogfish was sold in...Iowa City (so everywhere then?)

It's pretty good but for the Philly area it's a good bit more expensive than Yards/Troegs which are just as good or better imo.
