Ah okay.

Drinking some DFH punkin ale atm. I have to say I'm not that fond of pumpkin ales at all. This is only the second one I've tried and I forget what the first was, I think Weybacher? Anyhow, I want to like them I just can't get into them .

The Punkin is the cream of the crop imo, so you dont like that then you may not enjoy them at all. They are kind of gimmicky, not my fave beers in the world but I love when I see them on the shelves bc it means playoff baseball, football, and everything else I love about the fall.

Fall kills it in the NE imo.

Edi: also Wraths you might have said this before but are you going to school for something beer related?

Someone told me the UFO one is really good so I'll probably try that one and then give up. I go to UCF for video game design but I am taking a "Better Beer and Brewing" class right now. Our final is the Cicerone Certification which is cool because I can get certified for a cheaper price and hopefully it will be the easiest final ever. Last week we had Ron Raike from Shipyard in and it was super informational. Easily the best class I've ever taken.

Shipyard Smashed Pumpkin is my fave. Had my first one of the year on Thursday, the keg was gone when I went for my second on Friday.

Does this mean you can't find that beer or just don't need any left arms? 'Cause I'm really quite keen on getting some!

Not sure on either. Just had Wild One for the first time at the Michigan beer fest. I'll watch out for both of them.

Sorry, missed your post. Never seen any Celis outside of the festivals. The store I go to has a good selection of MBC so I'll see what's up.

I recently did a trade with Wraths, sent him 4 Founders Breakfast Stout and will be receiving some Jai Alai IPA from Cigar City coming up to MI.

If I'm lucky enough to get an extra bottle of Canadian Breakfast Stout, it's up for auction. I'll let you guys know

Great thread.

I have had a kegerator for about 2 years now and I tend to run into a dilemma.

Most people don't like the beer I drink. So while 2 hearted ale is good for my persobal tastes, when I have friends over they are less than pleased with it.

Basically I want something that isn't ****, but will cater to a wider audience. I did a 1/4 of oberon this summer, but I can only take so much of that.

Suggestions?

I plan on alternating between my beer and wife/friends beer.

Edit: I live in metro detroit(wixom) and prefer more local stuff.

Fat Tire? SNPA? Bell's Pale, if I remember right, was like a super pale. Really light golden color, snappy hop bitterness. Still too much? Don't really know much about Detroit breweries, have had some Atwater stuff that was ok.

You remember correctly, sir. I was truly amazed at how bland that beer is from a very solid brewery.

If you want to upgrade a bit from Bell's Pale Ale, I suggest Bell's Amber. Got just enough bite to give it some character, but not so much that it scares folks off.

First year, and in a planter no less. I was pretty surprised to get anything.

I planted 5 plants about 2 months into growing season. Only the cascade took and while I got about 10 ft of growth the bines never really got larger and I didn't harvest anything. Hopefully next year the rhizomes are still good!

Congrats RDH those look awesome!

Wraths, I had the exact same result actually. I planted 2 rhizomes really late in the season and they took off, I got easily 12ft of growth but no yield.

I dont see that as a failure though, if I get nothing next year then yea...I'll be disappointed. But at this point I just figure I have a pretty good root system for next year and as long as they sprout in the spring I should be set for a harvest next fall.

RDH, any plans for those hops? I cant tell how much that is, but probably enough for a solid late hop edition in a "semi wet hopped" ale?

I planted hops this year too. I got 0.65oz dry weight from the Zeus, and the Cascades made some hop cones but not enough to bother harvesting. I'm looking forward to next fall when I should get a decent harvest.

I tried doing this before but I failed, anyone want to do a Homebrew swap?

I need some unbiased opinions on at least 1 brew, possibly 2. I could ship 2 12oz bottles...the Roggenbier especially but possible my Imperial Pumpkin ale (9.3%) that I just bottled Tuesday night.

Sweet. I'm going to be out of town for a week but my wife will be on the look-out for it and will be them in the fridge when it arrives.
