Alternatively, you could go Miller light to please that crowd, Sam Adams, and something darker (I'm not familiar with Brooklyn Breweries beer), but I think something darker should probably be in play.

Yeah, this isn't a bad option. The people who want a light beer probably won't care all that much whether you offer Sam Light, or if you skimp and go for any of Bud, Miller, or Coors lights. Pick the cheapest one. Put the money towards either a pale hoppy beer you may like more than SNPA or Brooklyn Lager, or towards the darker beer. Or just pocket the difference.

Sadly, I'd expect the light beer to be the hottest at your bar. You might want to register for a kegerator so that you can keep the leftovers of the good beer.

Agree with Wookie, go for the cheaper light beer like Coors or something and being in Albany.. swap the SN for Ithica Flower Power's if you could.. if too expensive maybe something from Saranac?

Personal preference I'd switch in Sam Adams Boston Lager for the Brooklyn Brown ... can drink the SA all day but the BB gets syrupy

I sent some PMs out, but I created a 2+2 HomeBrew swap group on Google groups. I am realizing now I shouldnt have limited it to just home brew as Im sure people would be willing to trade that rare west coast brew for an east coast brew.

Its called no9 as it refers to the 9 different malts used in making it and has being doing pretty well in the local brewing awards

It won a contest of Ontario IPAs it also won a pair of medals at the Ontario Brewing Awards (gold in the Pale Ale category and People’s Choice for IPAs).

Went to Prague, ground zero of pilsner. Now pilsner might not be that exciting, but drinking it fresh from the source, and paying basically nothing for it, is quite enjoyable. Bars in Prague typically serve only one brand of the macro pilsners, Pilsner Urqell, Staropramen, Krocovice, Budweiser et.c. So i was quite happy when i stumbled across a bar called Prague Beer Museum, which served lesser known domestic beer. Had a medicre IPA and a quite tasty porter.

Just discovered this thread, and plan on becoming a fairly regular contributer. Beer is delicious and has been a serious passion of mine for the last 3 years. It started with a simple upgrade from Natty Ice to Sam Adams back in college, now years later I'm hitting 4+ beer-fests a year and going out of my way to try new brews every chance I get.

This saturday I'm going to the evening session of the Boston Beer Summit. I went this past November and it was amazing. Can't wait to taste the new lineup of beers! If you guys are interested, I can upload some pics of the action and the tastier concoctions.

Anyone have experience incorporating a homebrew club into a not for profit or a collective? We have reached a critical mass and it is time to get bigger. There are monthly meetings, twice weekly brewing sessions, a core of about 25 people and an active group of 90-100.

Thoughts?

Full of locals and ridiculously good service. A prague must go to place for anyone who loves good beer imo.

Buffet I had that Black for the first time last night ( also purchased at a Wegmans ) ... it was OK, but really needs to be consumed at a super low temperature ... I like the bottles a lot

Just had a Shiner Dusseldorf Alt. Got it in a mix 12 that had Bock, Blonde, Hef, Kosmo's Reserve, Black Lager, and the Alt.

It was a really nice beer. Great malt body, enough presence of hops to set off the malt, dry finish. Deep amber color, light tan head. Its a style that's not real common here, so its good to see a well-made example available nation wide.

I've read about Sam Adams putting out a 12 pack of Latitude 48 IPA that has single-hop versions of each of the hops they use for the normal IPA. I'm going to see if I can hunt that down, sounds like a fun experiment.
