Four packs are starting to hit the stores but didn't see any yet the few places I checked. Hopefully I didn't miss out yet but I think they just haven't hit the shelves by me.
How much did they charge you for a single bottle?
No I got two beers. The store got one case. If you haven't gotten one yet, they're gone. Absurd how fast it flies off the shelves.
Anyway, Founders KBS drink report (camera went kaputt recently, so unfortunately picless):
Pours pitch black, and absolutely opaque to light (literally held it up to an exposed bulb and nothing got through). Two finger head was a very dark tan, receded neither too quickly nor too slowly, and left behind plenty of lacing. A spin of the glass yielded a viscous coating of the side of the glass, as it to be expected for an 11.2% ABV beer.
The beer smells strongly of chocolate with some light coffee notes. I'd be hard pressed to tell if I were smelling a cafe mocha or KBS if put to a blind-folded test. Scent in not alcoholic in the least.
Mouth-feel was medium, and extremely smooth. KBS is dangerously easy to drink. Taste-wise this is probably the most interesting beer I've ever had. At first sip, strongest flavor is coffee which was a little surprising given how strongly it smelled of chocolate. The bourbon-cask-aging really shines through in the finish, which is strongly alcoholic and has that smoky woody quality of a good bourbon. Subtle notes of vanilla and caramel in the bourbon finish.
All-in-all, I think it lived up to its hype. Really wish they brewed this more often so it could be had for less that $6 a bottle. Gonna take the second one home for my pops.
