A lot of my posts ITT from now on will be about conflict between a brewery owner who barely likes beer and a beer geek brewer. Maybe it would make a good BA comic strip - kinda like a drunk Dilbert.
The ladies love the light fruit beers. My wife's girls weekends are filled with Pyramid apricot wheat and Oregon Riesling and Pinot Noir.

I think that a drunk Dilbert style comic would be hilarious.

For the most part, any micro-brewish beer should not be consumed ice cold ... the cold numbs the taste buds on the tongue and you won't get the full flavor profile the brewer intended

Re: TLDR Beer Club

I picked up a sixer of Lagunitas Little Sumpin Sumpin Ale.

You cant go wrong with this brewery, I've yet to taste a bad beer from them!

I like this one a lot but, drank it from the bottle since my glasses are all packed up because I'm moving. I'd write more detail but, I should drink it from a pint glass before doing that, imo. Just chiming in to say that I liked it.

I liked Lil' Sumpin Sumpin so much I went out west to visit the brewery last summer.

(mostly true - I also saw The Cult and went to Sierra & Anchor)

Re: TLDR Beer Club

I'll have to try it then.

I order some ingredients from Northern Brewer, including a wYeast packet. The damn thing is boiling hot though!! they did put a little little ice pak on it but that thing probably melted in a matter of hours, which cost me $1 btw, how bad do you think this could be for the life of the yeasties?

I think this is the last time I order Yeast online, well live Yeast at least.

Re: TLDR Beer Club

I've had a bunch of Flying Dog beers recently, including the pale ale INAR2 just reveiwed. Their Double Dog IPA packs quite a punch. Not the best double I've had, but tasty at 11.5%. I'd probably give it a 4. I also had a couple of their Raging ***** Belgian-Style IPAs this weekend. Again, very strong and good but not great. 8.3% alcohol and I'd give it a 3.5-4.

I also had a couple Deschutes Inversion IPAs. Decent IPA. It was on sale for $6.99/6 so I wonder if they were old or something. 3.

It will prob still work but the viability will be way down. Might want to adjust your starter(s) for that and aerate extremely well. I get yeast packets/vials shipped from Minnesota all the way to Florida, regular UPS shipping but with the 'yeast shipping pack' or whatever it's called. The yeast always wakes up and works. EDIT: I usually repitch several times and it usually gets better after the first batch or two. Really have to make sure that first batch is extemely well aerated.

Not a huge IPA fan but I like Bell's Two-Hearted. I totally don't get the DFH 60/90/120 line, do not want.

I drank another one the next day, and I have to say it had more bite when it's the first beer instead of the fourth. Still good, though.

Why Do Heavy Drinkers Outlive Nondrinkers?

Quote:
But even after controlling for nearly all imaginable variables — socioeconomic status, level of physical activity, number of close friends, quality of social support and so on — the researchers (a six-member team led by psychologist Charles Holahan of the University of Texas at Austin) found that over a 20-year period, mortality rates were highest for those who had never been drinkers, second-highest for heavy drinkers and lowest for moderate drinkers.

Beer review: Guinness Draught.

Somehow, I just bought my first six pack of Guinness. And my last. I can't believe I have to choke down 5 more bottle of this ****.

Re: TLDR Beer Club

Do you not like British beer or something? They aren't amazing but both their Draught and Extra Stout are pretty decent imo. I never would buy them at the liquor store but find it to be a decent fall-back beer at crappy bars pretty often.

It was just too bland. The flavor was too bland and it was watery, although maybe it's supposed to be. It was so mild that it's like I'm not drinking beer, and instead drinking some kind of malt tea. The flavor plus flatness was just not for me.

Like I said, I don't know much about this stuff. Thankfully, Beer Advocate gave it a pretty poor rating as well, so there's some hope for me and better beers in this genre.

I don't much care for drinking Guinness either. Fortunately for INAR2, it is decent for cooking. Google for Irish stew recipes.

If you want to drink it, you could always make Irish car bombs.

Just because they're Irish doesn't mean their lowest common denominator has much better taste than Bud Light-Swilling Americans.

Re: TLDR Beer Club

I mean, if you are going to purchase a macro brew, how good do you expect it to be? Palatable/not offensive is a pretty big win.

It is probably the most overrated beer in the world though.

I would go even further. I think Guinness is the worst beer I've ever had and I've had about 1000 different kinds of beer. (not a brag)

I had Dogfish Head Saison Du Buff, it was pretty delicious. I think Victory and Stone all make the same beer but in different bottles.

I think Guinness kinda gives stout a bad rep. Ever tried Samuel Smiths Oatmeal Stout? It's a fairly common/available beer and is pretty damn good imo.

Re: TLDR Beer Club

One reason why I don't drink stouts often is cause they're way more expensive than other beers.
