Battlestar Galactica - Final Season Battlestar Galactica - Final Season

Figured I'd start this since I have no one else to talk to about it. I think this is currently the best show on television. However, tonight's episode left me a little cold and is only the 2nd show in the series' history I didn't absolutely love.

Why would Tom Zarek give up the Presidency to Lee Adama without a fight...seems they glossed over the politics of this. I don't mind because I find the political drama of this season to be the least interesting part of the series, but if you're going to go for it, don't cheat and take shortcuts, you know?

Saul has apparently impregenated the #6 because he keeps seeing Ellen in her place...what does this mean??? Sharon and Helo's daughter Hera is special because it's the first cylon/human baby and the only pregnancy the cylons could generate.

Of course, Galen is a cylon so his baby with the now-dead Callie is also a half breed...what does THAT mean??

So if Tigh has really impregnated #6 then it's the very first all-cylon pregnancy...

color me confused with all these babies.

Sharon's in the brig - again. Adama and Tigh have an argument and hug - again. Don't get me wrong, I love the show but it really does seem like it's wrapping up at the perfect time. Surprisingly, no scenes this episode on the jumped baseship - we have no idea where it his.

***********SPOILERS*************

Next week, Diana's back and by the looks of the previews they're saying Laura is the Final Cylon - something I think is fairly obvious if you watch the show at all - why else is she having the same visions as Number Six and Sharon?

But the fact they showed this in the previews has me wondering if it's a misdirection. Why would they give away the season's main plot point so casually?

Both Laura Roslin and Starbuck have "spiritual" happenings going in their lives at the moment so I really do think it's one of those two. Who else is a suspect?

The recap is very funny.
I actually liked this week's episode very much. I wasn't liking season 4 that much until the last three episodes which I thought have been much more interesting (probably influenced by not having Balthar in religious mode in them).
Some people have been speculating that Ellen is the old version of number six.

I didn't mind the Zarek thing being fast because I think they will address this later. Plus Zarek knows that he was not going to convince Adama.

With respect to the SPOILERS:
I think the Roslin thing is a misdirection. I think Diana is talking to someone else, like Balthar (note that Balthar is also in all those dreams). I would prefer Starbuck to be a Cylon because I can't think of a way of explaining her disappearance at the last episodes of season 3.

I think Starbuck might be revealed to be some kind of "god" or "prophet" and that will explain her reappearance. O something.

Yeah, the Baltar religious thing has not been great, but I've really loved this season especially the last few episodes before this last one.

Anyone want to explain all the baby stuff?

Yeah, the last few episodes have been great. I wasn't too fond of the episodes were the "Chief" was central to the episode + Balthar's religious thing. But other than that, the season has been pretty good.

I don't have much to add to the baby stuff other than what you said yourself. I thought it was interesting that this will be the first Cylon-Cylon baby. Maybe that's part of what makes the "final five" special.

June 6th episode: "Hub"

Damn, this show is constantly surprising me. So damn good.

I love Laura's journey on this one...realizing she can't just be "Madam President" but also a woman who needs to love. And her saving Baltar even after his confession was very moving.

Some funny-ass moments in this episode like Laura calling her "conscience" vain, Blatar telling Laura she's pretty, and especially Baltar trying to recruit the metal Cylon!

Awesome "sike!" moment, too, when Diana tells Laura she's the Fifth of the Final Five!

Which leads to the question...who is it?

I've read speculation on other boards that it might be the lawyer Lampkin, but he was introduced so late in the series this wouldn't make sense to me.

Obviously, the biggest "surprise" choice would be Adama. I still don't think it's Starbuck...she's some kind of special "prophet," for lack of a better word, who will lead them all to earth, I think.

I'm really upset that next week's episode is the last until 2009...that sux.

really? no episodes for half a year? that sucks.

This week's episode was great. I guess it made me realize that last week's episode was not that good. The final scene in the episode was very cute. The battle scenes were cool and it very nice to have Diana back. The scene where Baltar tries to recruit the centurion was pretty good too.

Starbuck being a "prophet" sounds about right. I wish Adama is not one of the final five. I could take Roslin being number five, but not Adama. Another theory I've heard is that it is Gata, as number 2's seem to be cylons (Tigh number two to Adama, Tori number two to Roslin, Gata number 2 to Baltar).
But I think it is between Starbuck, Roslin and Baltar.

Based on verisimilitude, I don't think Adama can be a cylon. He had kids and that would pose some huge plot conflicts.

I think Starbuck's apparent death and return in a new ship would require a really good explanation if she's not a cylon.

mid-season finale - Revelations

well, you certainly can't complain about this episode being slow! A lot of stuff happened in this one.

********************SPOILERS********************

Good to see Lee finally grow some balls - I really thought Tigh was gonna get the airlock!

We've got ten final episodes to look forward to...now that they've found a devastated Earth, how do you see the rest of the show playing out?
  • Are they going to stay on Earth or not?
  • Will the cylons and humans finally end their war or will they lapse into their old ways?
  • Obviously, "God" has other plans for everybody - what can they be?
  • What is the importance of Hera and the other babies?
  • Lastly----who is the final Cylon - and how will he/she be different from the others?

Can't believe we have to wait so long to find out, dammit.

I agree. It's going to have to come down to the final five have special reproductive abilities.

Baltar talking up the toaster was hilarious, just because it's the height of idiocy. Trying to rile up a newly sentient killing machine?

I totally thought Laura was going to let him die unless someone else intervened.

No idea who the final cylon is and I really don't even want to guess. I'd rather enjoy the journey.

The mid season finale was definitely a "what the frack" moment.

Spoiler:
I tend to think the didn't find the current earth, maybe an earlier earth that had to be abandoned.

This was pretty good:

Why I Would Have Voted for Baltar, Too

Yeah, this is a great series. So good Marvel is ripping it off wholesale in their current summer mega-crossover.

As with Lost, I am a little worried that this show is gonna go all Chris Claremont and a bunch of questions will never get answered and sub-plots never resolved but I hoping.

Yo diebitter if you're still on Season 3, stop reading this now! Spoilers below!

Spoiler:

There was a theory that Cylons always hook-up with humans, however, Boomer started the series with Galen so that may or may not hold. I suspect though that the identities of the four were not decided upon by the writing staff at the start of the series and that came later. In particular since Sam didn't show up until season 3 and his joining the fleet is a huge coincidence if there was any sort of plan. Picking the four feels like a big afterthought and not part of the plan from the beginning.

The final Cylon is super obvious. It's gotta be Lee Adama. There have been hints all they way back to season 1 when Leoben tells Roslin that Adama is a Cylon. Obv everyone thinks The Admiral. But a big part of the series has been Lee's journey to manhood and Lee's rise to power. Lee is a much more important character now than he was in season 1. Most other non-Cylon characters has become less important (ie: Felix, Dee)

I haven't thought about the possibility of Lee being the Final Cylon....I think it makes sense, though. Didn't Leoben tell Roslin that Adama Sr. was a cylon, though???

Sam being one of the final four makes sense because it would've been very easy for the Cylons to set up his rescue and get him into the fleet...even without him knowing about it....remember their final stand on the planet when the Cylons just...went away? That was never explained, was it? I think Sam being a secret Cylon explains it pretty well.

I don't see how it could be Lee since Adama's wife wouldhave been pregnant with him, etc. Too much real human history witnessed by cast members.

I'm still crawling through season 3, btw. I watched the one where 'Bulldog' comes back from the cylons. Very good. Does Bulldog become a regular?

I like that actor. He was pretty good in Alias too.

You could say the same thing about Saul.

Saul fought in the first Cylon war, well before there were humanoid Cylons. If Saul could be replaced by a Cylon with memory implants, so could anyone.

No, Leoben said "Adama" was a Cylon, pretty much everyone inferred the Admiral. Lee was still a secondary character at the time.

Leoben would just have been talking smack because he actually knew nothing about the final 5. Which would just make this foreshadowing.

Or did he? We didn't actually find out that the final five were unknown until much later in the series. It's possible that the writers of the series didn't come up with the idea of the "final five" until after that episode was written so Leoben may have been speaking the truth.

Except the Cylons on Caprica would not have known he was a Cylon because he's one of the final five. So it's unlikely that was all a setup to plant him in the fleet.

And anyway, that whole subplot was dependent on Kara going back to Caprica for the arrow, meeting up with everyone there, and then leading a rescue party back. Considering how loosely held together the fleet is, there are much easier ways to plant someone (ie: the Saul option).
