Just finished up my Keezer. Didn't plan and my C02 is empty until tomorrow.

http://www.picpaste.com/keezer-tMJQnVAe.JPG

Caulk the inside of it, but added some electrical tape around the edges as the foam seamed like it was a bit fragile. Had to carve out the foam to allow the top to close. The keezer is in the basement. The previous owners had a 2nd kitchen in the basement. There is an open space next to it, that most likely next year I will put a mini-fridge to be a fermentation chamber.

The butcher block top is leftover from a kitchen island we had in our old house, then ended up matching what was in the basement already.

Will be able to serve 4 beers and carbe 2 more once I move the C02 outside of the freezer. Going to leave it inside for a bit now. Although the tank/regulator takes up a good bit of space.

Looks good, nice clean build. What size is that? I just got a 9.2cf the other day to replace my 22cf, was hoping to be able to get 6 on tap with CO2 inside.

It is 7.2cf. I was able to fit 6 cornies in it before putting the reg and tank in. Will mount both outside at somepoint.

It went great, I had about 5.5 gallons after primary so filled the keg to the brim and bottled a few with carb drops. This is my first go with carb drops so we will see how it goes.

Mark, the one I was kegging is a Roggenbier that I used 1lb of that Smoked Rye in. The grain bill was 14lbs and I dont get any of the smoke at all, absolutely none which is pretty disappointing. I will actually be entering this beer into a competition in 3 weeks so I will report back how it turned out. I based my recipe off of Jamil's Roggenbier.

Speaking of the style, I have actually never had a commercial Roggenbier, can anyone recommend one?

Finally had La Fin Du Monde. It was delicious just as I expected after I realized what a Tripel was.

I've never used carb drops at all but one of my best brewing pals has used it for bottling. I'm definitely interested to hear how it works in a keg. Should work fine, as I've keg conditioned with regular sugar plenty of times.

damn, really? I'm very surprised by that. I guess I'm glad you beat me to it. a kid in one of my clubs actually gave everyone malt-smoked malt at the meeting Monday night. I guess I'll use them together!

I don't know any of these beers myself, but maybe you will:

We use corn sugar exclusively for conditioning--bottle or keg.

I've used carb tabs a couple times. Once the beer carbed up fine but had these little white spots in it, which came from the carb tabs. Undissolvable sugar balls, or something. Didn't affect the flavor at all.

Just picked my hops. First year Centennial, grown in a planter, so I was pleasantly surprised to get any cones. Got a meager but exciting 1.16oz wet, currently drying between some filter sheets in the garage.

Oh no, I'm force carbing the keg with Co2, I used the carb drops for the 0.5 gallon of extra I had after I filled the keg. So I threw them in about 6 bottles with the carb drops, we will see.

I am wondering if the smoke is getting masked by the fact that my grain bill was 65% rye so it's possible all that rye flavor masked the slight smoke. Who knows ymmv.

If anyone is interesting in any Bell's, Founders, Shorts, or any other Michigan beers, let me know. Willing to trade as long as what you're sending is good.

Are you able to get Bell's Wild One, or Founders Barrel Aged Imperial Stout? If so Id be interested in trading for something of equal value. Is there anything from the east coast breweries that you cannot get?

bought it in an onlineshop for 1,49€/bottle.i had this beauty yesterday and damn, why did i never have this before?!and how can ales taste so good???!and why the heck dont we have this kind of stuff in germany????!!!!

smell:never really smelled this before, probably so intense because its dryhopped?
its citrusy/orangy,piny,hoppy and a little bit malty.
taste:again a little bit of the malt character and still nice citrusy and piny components.not very bitter and super drinkable.could probably have just a little more bitterness.if i would have had more than 1 bottle i would have drank at least 4 or 5 of them.have to brew this tasty stuff
mouthfeel:really good mouthfeel.awesome carbonation.sometimes it felt a little watery

because i have only had 4 ales before in my entire life(kilkenny,2X samuel smiths and an awful ale in an english pub that tasted like ur pee smells after taking penicillin) i give this 9/10

Picked up an Ommegang Witte last night and noticed when I got home the little label on the neck said "True Belgian-style Saison."

Is the Belgian White style a sub-type of Saison or is this just a labeling mistake you think? I know Saison can have a little bit of wheat or rye (malted or unmalted) but I've never heard of a Saison with a primarily wheat grain bill.

I'm not sure if they even still make it (their website is vague) but I'd give my mom's left arm for some Celis by Michigan Brewing Company.

I wish. I have to coach a bunch of kids at 2:30 for a soccer game. I've also got to squeeze in helping a brother in law move, and driving to Orlando to do drawing homework and then a date night after that. October first they are having some type of festival near my school so I will probably do that if anyone is down to meet up?

I think I am going to volunteer at that even for half the time. My professor is giving extra credit to do so, and then you get in free the other half.

What'd you have in mind?

hopefully going to sample some new BrewDog stuff today , they decided to call it

Hops Kill Nazi's

The beer is a 7.8% Imperial Red Ale. Boasting 80 IBU, it is hopped with huge amounts of Chinook and Centennial in the kettle before being massively dry hopped with only Chinook, twice.

pics and report to follow tomorrow hopefully
