I see a market for an app/extension to convert posts to different measurement units .

Sounds like you had a fun time. I would like to see a picture of the 25l wine bottle . Only thing I'd say is you may want to let it ferment a bit longer before bottling.

yeah we had a lot of fun.we started so late that we finished bottling at 4am....and it wasnt very warm outside...we had to buy a ton of stuff at a local tool center before, and prepping all the vessels and hose took us longer than expected.critical point was when the pressure cooker that we stole from my mom suddenly stopped working.we really panicced and a friend drove home to get an immersion coil.thankfully the pressure cooker worked again after a 10min delay.i think we werent stirring the mash enough so the heat was trapped between heating plate and the grain.and even more thankfully this happened right in the beginning before hitting 55°C

I would agree with Wraths regarding letting it ferment in primary for longer as it could easily take 10 to 14 days to finish at those temps. If you bottle it before it's done you could end up with a bunch of bottle bombs. Plus the beer needs some time sitting on the yeast to clean up fermentation by-products.

yeah i think you guys are right.12°C isnt very high so the 1week should be the minimum fermentation time.it will probably get closer to the full 2 weeks.
when can i be absolutely sure the primary fermentation is complete?there will be no more foaming and bubblingright?any other good indicators to be absolutely sure?we dont yet have a device to measure the alcohol content

The only way to be 100% sure is measuring with a hydrometer and having a stable reading over several days. But if you let it go about 14 days at 12C and then raise it to 15C or 16C for a couple of days for the diacetyl rest you should be good.

It will often still bubble a bit at the airlock even when it's done.

close your airlock at this point, aka "capping."

Try Sam Smith's Oatmeal Stout or Taddy Porter. They are both fantastic beers, don't know if you can get them in Germany though (they're in the UK but import here to the States).

What part of the state are you in? I'm in Cocoa Beach. I'm heading to http://www.craftbeerexpo.org/ and Cigar City this weekend, and I think another 2p2er Marksugc might make it to the beer expo. Would be cool if there were multiple 2p2ers there I could meet up with.

Pretty sure 33BB's is in Sarasota.

Are you staying the night in St Pete on Saturday? 'Cause I'm going to a b-day party at St Petersburg Nights at 10pm. If I don't make it to the Expo, maybe y'all come out there?

They used to sell Grimbergen Tripel here several years ago but all we can get now is the Blonde and the Dubbel (which I don't think is called Phoenix - it's definitely not on the tap handle that way, at least.) I miss the Tripel terribly. I've settled for Gouden Carlous Triple

and St. Feuillen though. They do the job pretty nicely.

(that's what I got for my lil' brother's bachelor party - the beer, not the girl.)

Sarasota is correct. I won't be attending that show. I work in the marketing side of the industry so the only show I'm attending in the near future is NBWA (mini-brag). Nice that the trip serves a dual purpose.

Yeah I might be down to do that. There will probably be me, my fiancee, and our two friends though if that's cool?

Awesome. Mind sharing what you do? I just got an internship doing advertising for home manufacturing. I'll mainly be doing logo designing, photo retouching, and webpage upkeep.
