Peroni Gran Riserva 6.6% launched to celebrate 150th Birthday. Surprisingly liked this dry malty lager with a bit of a toffee aftertaste.

I picked up a 12-pack of Leinenkugel's variety beers the other day for $13.50 at the local store. The packaging tricked me into thinking they were Euro beers or something but it looks like they are an old outfit from Wisconsin, so probably not much difference. lol.

Anyway it came with 3 of each:
Classic Amber (in general, my favorite beers)
Summer Shandy
Sunset Wheat
Honey Weiss

The Honey Weiss is the only one that I don't noticeably enjoy. It just tastes watered-down. Not terrible but the worst of the 4.

The Amber is good. Not my favorite amber but it's strong.

I enjoy the Summer Shandy and Sunset Wheat the most. The Summer Shandy is a refreshing beer with a hint of lemonade in it. Highly refreshing on hot summer days. And I live in the deep South so this is important to me.

The Sunset Wheat doesn't say it but I'm pretty sure it's got a blueberry tint to it, which I highly enjoy. I had a blueberry wheat beer in StL straight from the Bud brewery and it was delicious. I guess I like these beers. Weird. Anyway this one has a very good taste to it.

I've enjoyed the Shandy during the daytime when it's hottest and the Sunset wheat at, imagine this, sunset twilight times, maybe after I cut the grass. And the amber is a nice heavier evening/meal beer.

I'm in Cocoa Beach. I haven't gotten down to CC's tasting room yet but I desperately want to. Just have been super busy with school/life. Are you still working at that brewery?

A lot of my friends love lienkugel but having only tasted their lemon shandy or w/e it is I can't stand to drink another drop.

Oh yeah, Wraths - I knew your name was familiar! I'm not at the brewery anymore, but I'm still involved with a Homebrew Club from that town and I arranged for us to have the next meeting at the St. Somewhere Brewery on Monday. We'll also have a BJCP-Certified judge giving a presentation as well as judging some members' beers. You're both welcome if the trip to Tarpon Springs is within the realm of possibility for y'all.

Also, Breckenridge Brewery stuff is distributed by your local Anheuser-Busch jerks, so you shouldn't have much trouble finding it.

That sounds fun but unfortunately it's a tad under a 3hr drive for me. There's a local homebrew club around here that I need to actually go to, but always forget/can't make it...

I think I am going to attempt my first >10% beer coming up in a month which should be fun. It's going to be some type of imperial "octoberfest" beer. It will be an ale though and I'm going to be using a ton of different malts. I'm thinking pale, crystals, mo or vienna, some rye, and some other type of specialty like chocolate or something. Also going to bake some pumpkin with brown sugar to use.

I'm having a hard time planning out what kind of hops to use with my beers and I've been generally going to homebrewtalk and looking at the beer style recipes I am trying to make and using what hops they do. I think though, that I will order a qtr oz of 10 or so hop varieties soon to make some hop tea and see if I can't break down the different flavors/aromas on paper for future use.

Do you have Beersmith?

I do not. I usually use beer-calculus when formulating. Is this a leak?

Is QBrew acceptable?

I'm sure it's fine, I just have a couple of recipes I made on Beersmith that you might find useful for that Marzen-Pumpkin beer you're making. No big deal, if you're interested PM/call me. We can go over some stuff whenever you want.

I get an error when I search for you, my username there is wrathsu. Pretty good idea for an app as I commonly would like to take notes while I am drinking and don't like how ****ty the iPhone Notes app is.

Gotcha. Any tips for learning to enjoy sour ales? I've had Guava Grove and Vuja De and absolutely hated them. They went to the sink after my friends nor I could handle the sourness.

Man, I had like 3-4 friends over that enjoy craft beer and none of us could stomach it. I drank about half a pint in hopes that I would start to enjoy the taste more but just couldn't handle it.

I suggest trying Viktenaar (sp?) - if you don't like that one, maybe sours aren't for you.

I've been drinking craft beer for too long and brewing my own for 5+ years, and I'm still not a big fan of most sours. Sometimes you just don't like stuff. =/

I've got a Centennial growing right now. I'm in an apartment so I just planted one rhizome, in a 22g or so container. Its about 3-4 feet high currently, looking super-healthy.

Very nice. I've got Brewer's Gold, Cascade, Nugget, Williamette, and Zeus on the way. I'll be getting started a bit late this season so I don't have any high hopes for the yield this year. Also where I am we are in a bit of a drought so I'm a bit worried about it right now.

This looks pretty cool. The Central Florida Homebrew Club is on their way down to Tampa today. I think they are visiting the three breweries in that area but it seems like it'd be a good idea to stop at Hoptomic too! The Saaz club is also having their monthly get together today and I am stucking going to a future father in laws birthday bbq. Hyachcahcahcahcahcahcaachcaacaa
