Thats what I had figured, thank you sir.

$2.50/bottle is expensive? Man, my local six pack corner store they are $4/bottle.

The best deal in the joint is Racer 5 at 2.25/bottle and the hot rod rye is 3.75.

Lol Philly I guess.

no discounts for 4 packs, there is on 6 packs and they are all individual bottles, mix a 6 if you will. So a 4 pack would be $16 eeeek!

Barney Flats is 2.50 and thats usually where I get my Oatmeal Stout fix when Im six packing it.

Edit: wait am I being leveled? lol

Normally, Sam Smith is sold in 4-packs, but I guess your store breaks 'em all up.

I bet a 4-pack of Sam Smith around here is about $9-10 but a single right about $4. That's why I asked.

Jeez. I don't think our beer store has anything more expensive than $10 for a 4-pack.

Of course, the selection there sucks AND you can't mix a six-pack, so it's a trade off.

2 things:

1) Drinking Flying Dog - Barley Wine Ale right now. It's my first Barley Wine, if that is in fact what it is. It's got a little kick. I like it pretty well. Nice color, and it's got a bit of a "wine" finish. Kind of sweet and dry. I no can describe good.

3.5 for now. (my scoring system seems to increase the more I drink)

2) I think my second batch of homebrew in primary is getting infected. There are tons of bubbles collecting across the top like slowly forming jellyfish. It doesn't smell out of order, and I'm going to hope that it's just krausen, but it looks suspicious. It's still got 2 weeks to go.

Edit: Fortunately, I've read about several success stories of people racking from under the infection and getting decent beer, so there's hope even in the worst case.

Made a half-batch of Pumpkin Ale yesterday. Took 48lbs of canned pumpkin and carmelized it in the oven and added it at the beginning of the boil along with some nutmec, cinnamon and Chinooks. I put in some Cascades and Williamettes, plus a little more nutmeg later and finished off with more Cascades, cinnamon and nutmeg, then a dash of corriander for aroma.

I'll let y'all know how it turns out.

Click the pic, the link's embedded. Apparently the guy made pumpkin beer with some kinda home made/gathered yeast, and it was kinda supposed to look like that.

Something like that. I can't remember, but it was interesting.

These showed up at my doorstep today. Ive only ever had one wild before(Bell's Wild One) and was interested in trying several more. Especially these 3 that are so highly thought of.

Anyone here had any of these?

BTW....if you dont know/cant tell all 3 of these are American wild ales from Russian River.

I had supplication and consecration earlier this summer. I think i would give both like a 3.5 out of 4. If I remember right, supplication had a lot of a sour bite to it and the cherries and oak were really present and pretty strong, and consecration was a bit more mellow of a sour, with not quite as strong oak and fruit flavors. i might have that backwards though.

I ended up liking supplication the most.

Consecration is definitely the most 'balanced' of the three in my opinion in terms of overall sourness. However, you pretty much can't make a beer too sour for me and I think supplication is my favorite. Make sure you let them all warm/open up a good amount, or at least drink them really slowly. The first few sips may seem one-dimensional; their beers really expand in flavor an incredible amount as you drink them.

Also if you're interested in more sours, I cannot recommend Cascade Brewing enough.

You can get bottles shipped to your door (assuming you're not in a law with dumb shipping laws). Also if you act now, you may be able to get bottles of the Bourbonic Plague, a soured, oaked, bourboned, porter which is probably my favorite beer I have ever tasted, so damn good.

Has anyone tried Thomas Hardy's Ale or have any saved in their cellar? If so what year and does it live up to the hype?

I've tried a few different, recent years and didn't notice a big difference between them. I think I had '08 and '09. Both were pretty nice and neither was terribly pricey - about $6 per 12oz(ish) bottle.

I'm a little biased, but I recommend Brooklyn Monster as a fine Barleywine, but I've never managed to cellar any for a significant length of time.

That looks like a homebrewer competition. I haven't brewed at home in quite a while.

edit: confirmed

I knew you were a pro but I guess I just assumed you homebrewed too. Come to think of it, if I brewed all day at work I doubt I'd brew at home either.

I just put together a batch of Ed Worts Apfelwein last night, the reason I say "put together" is bc there is really no brewing involved. Pour apple juice and sugar in carboy, shake, pitch yeast let sit for a few months. cupcake city, hope it turns out.
