I love 8 1/2 and haven't seen it in years, but that ending sequence, that dance of life, is glorious. One of my favorite endings.
Woody Allen tried in Stardust Memories, but he doesn't come close to Fellini's masterpiece.
In college, back in 1974, I took a film course and had to write a paper/review of a current film. I couldn't get off campus to see anything, but somebody I knew had seen Fellini's Amacord. He spent about fifteen minutes describing the plot to me, and I wrote the essay without seeing the film. Got an A.
