This thread has been lacking in the pictures of animals category lately. None of these are mine, just helping up back on track.

You should figure out what it would take to be the nurse that takes the therapy dog around the hospital. That would be such an awesome job.

I have gone totally puppy crazy! I want to get 2 more puppies, the one in the picture above, and an Airedale. Why didn't you guys tell me how much fun puppies are. I could have been having this much fun years ago!

I think the dog in the pic above would be a great therapy dog. I should look into that.

Based on the vest and how young he looks, I think he is training to be a service dog. Retrievers are great dogs to be service dogs. I knew someone who owned a service dog flunky (too hipper) and he was the most well behaved and trained dog I have ever seen.

My mom wants me to get another puppy to be a companion for Oscar. I wish Thor were still here.

While that is amazingly cute, you are teaching your dog that socks are toys. In the future, any sock that doesn't quite make it into the basket will be fair game. My parents made the same mistake with our dog.

I could certainly see how that could happen, but it didn't with our dachshund Pepper. He'd play tug of war with old socks with me for as long as I'd play, literally shredding the socks, but he never ever chewed or destroyed anything on his own.

That video takes me back, because Pepper was black and tan like that and would make those rumbling growls while he played.

Be careful with socks. My sisters chocolate lab wound up eating a couple and blocking his intestines. After a $5k surgery my sister learned to pick up her socks.

The image of our springer throwing up a whole one of these is indelibly printed in my mind. God knows what it would have been like going the other way.

What do you guys know about rawhide chewies and puppies? Can they have them? My 4 month old puppy loves rawhide but I have heard that they are not healthy.

Nylon is supposed to be better.

I have been using roasted pork pin bones. He loves them and they don't splinter easily. The vet said it was fine, but there is a loud, vocal presence of people, especially on the internet, saying that dogs should not eat any kind of bones ever. YMMV

Hey Crash - How old is your puppy now? What is he up to lately? Aren't puppies fun

My puppy is doing a lot better on a leash now, and he has actually learned 2 commands - sit and lie down. I have tried teaching him several other commands but evidently he is not that bright. He just keeps sitting.

Where do I get pork pin bones? Do they sell those at the pet store? My dog LOVES chewing. He loves gnawing on tree bark. That's kind of weird don't you think?

Katy, I used to give mine those dried pig ears...he liked it and it was all natural. I just always pictured an earless pig wandering around, confused.

I've seen those ears in the store. Dumb question here... Are they actually made from real pig's ears or are they just shaped like an ear? I'm a tad squeamish. do I really want one flopping around on my kitchen floor ? I bet he would love it.

Puppies are great He is exactly 4 months today - just got back from the vet to get the rabies shot, now I can let him run free. Neutering is next week, then I can get his dog license.

I get my pin bones from the butt primal cut - I do my own meat cutting and sausage making. If you go into a store with a service counter you can ask them for a pin bone - if they don't have one immediately available ask them to keep one for you. Then roast the bone in your oven.

My dog eats ornamental bark too

Some randoms of our pound puppy Dexter that we think is a purebred Chesapeake bay Retriever. Incredibly high energy dog... makes sense considering they were bred to retrieve ducks out of icy water all day. Also, they have a chest bone that's there for breaking through ice, so that whole "knee the dog in the chest to stop him from jumping" technique is a very bad idea (as I found out early on).

We're first time dog owners but I can't imagine there's a breed more loyal. This dog is always looking for work... trying to find something he can do to please you. You've gotta admit, it's a beautiful dog, eh?

Always forcing himself into the smallest slivers of space just to be petted:

Those ducks look delicious:

What happens when you don't walk him:

Catchin some Z's with Bolt the cat:

Pure torture:

hahahaha...great pics!

But you're not supposed to crate him as punishment...unless that's the only time you crate him, I guess.
