I actually have the remote control training collar and the thought of hooking it up to the kids crossed my mind more than once. :D

I got one of these for my dog once, then one time she couldnt help herself and barked real hard while running...it flat out knocked her on her ass and she became very defensive while she had it on from that point on.

So that thing got returned pretty quickly. Try another method imo.

That's sick. I wouldn't put that on my dog.

^this... Dogs are very smart animals, and there are better ways to control their behavior than torture.

Great boxer pics, HiC4rd! She looks adorable and a lot of fun. Also, what brand and model of camera do you have? Your pics are really really sharp and clear!

Re: Talk About Your Dog(s)/Cat(s)

Ha ha, she was a proper cone head when we got her. She has now really filled out and still has a long way to go. Her paws are enormous and she is starting to get proper boxer jowels now, living in the caribbean that means lots of slobber and interesting facial sand patterns.

I have a Lumix DMC-FZ35. A sort of hybrid between a point and shoot and a SLR. It takes great pictures. Just trying to get to grips with it. Couple more then i will stop.

I love the puppy picture and the beach picture especially. The middle ones got me wondering what her expression or look reminded me of, and then it came to me -- Walter Matthau.

Kingweed, tell Poppy all the runway dogs in Paris and Milan are wearing their hair short this season.

Blarg 04-13-2010 12:36 PM

Re: Talk About Your Dog(s)/Cat(s)

Definitely. I used to do that for my persian cats. Otherwise I'd come back and find them belly up, arms in the air, to get some cool going. Looked way too much like dead fish for my comfort level, and I knew they must have been miserable.

Well, only on left in the litter. All others sold. Here's Kona, who went to a mansion type setting and will basically be living like a king -- I won't get into it, but I was laughing reading about his new life, it sounded so over-the-top great.

Bump in memory of my old cat Fennimore, who passed today.

I talked about him a bit earlier in the thread - just a really cool cat who didn't have any ambitions beyond being a really cool cat. 20+ years old, which I guess is about 110 for a person.

He had a stroke today, and couldn't move his hindquarters. I had to have him put down. I cried.

See you in the next life, old cat......

Sorry to hear you lost a friend.

Damn 20 years though. That's amazing.

Really sorry Hobbes. We lost one of our cats in January, and it sucks.

I'm also sorry about Fennimore, Hobbes. I remember your earlier post about what a cool customer he was, how nothing fazed him.

Re: Talk About Your Dog(s)/Cat(s)

Sorry about Fennimore. 20 years is nothing to sneeze at, though.

I had 3 cats, but 2 passed away last year. Peaches was 14 and had been an insulin dependent diabetic for 6 years. She required 2 shots per day.

Skyler was 13 and had liver disease. She got progressively worse over a year and a half and we finally had to let her go. We just couldn't find anything that would help her condition.

Beeker is my surviving cat and the oldest at 16. He's a male orange tabby and he's had every health issue under the sun but he's still going.

For those of you who have cats, please look into feeding your cat wet food instead of dry. Experts are beginning to think dry cat food is responsible for some of the more common cat illnesses, such as diabetes and kidney disease.

This is only true for cats and not dogs. This is because dogs are omnivores and cats are true carnivores. Grains that are used to make dry food aren't good for carnivores and the carbs can overwhelm a cat's pancreas and cause it to stop producing insulin. The insulin has to be substituted or there's nothing to help the body convert food to usable protein. An untreated diabetic will eventually die from starvation.

This is probably much more than any of you wanted to know, but if I can help one person not have to go through what we did with Peaches it was worth writing. If you want to find out more just google feline nutrition or feline diabetes.

I lost my 18 year old cat last month. We usually called her "Cat" , heavy accent on the C, which she responded to.

Most people who know me would say I was a tough, mean cold blooded old B*st*rd , many would have good reasons. I deeply mourn Cat.

Sorry about your loss.

They do fill a spot in your life, and leave a hole in it when they are gone.
