Because I'm really tilted, like, on a number of levels.
Bird Box, the novel, was published in 2014.

I don't like this... or especially Hero. Not even the same park park.

Perhaps D Quixote was even autobiographical and Gilliam himself is the Don...

Re: Talk About Movies: Part 4

The new Hellboy reboot was a mess. David Harbour was fine as a Perlman replacement but the movie had bigger issues. It's probably the worst edited "big budget" movie I've ever seen. Things just happen and characters just show up with very little build up/explanation. While are there are some cool ideas/CGI sequences, some of the CGI is absolutely abysmal and there are long pieces of dialogue that are very dry/not funny.

Overall It just seems like Hellboy was an unfinished movie that needed a bigger budget but the studio decided not to sink in more money and patched it together just to get it out there which is a shame because there are some really cool sequences in it.

Michelle Yeoh is supposed to captain a new Star Trek series. Zhang Ziyi (with short hair) is in the Godzilla movie being released this summer. No Idea what Chow Yun-Fat is up to.

Chow Yun Fat is a damn billionaire who has pledged his entire fortune to charity. Meanwhile he lives a humble life on like $15 a day. Dude is awesome

She's given the most watchable performance in Discovery. A Star Trek show led by her anti-hero could be a lot of fun.

Re: Talk About Movies: Part 4

Zhang Ziyi and I are the same age, and after CTHD I think she will forever be my movie star crush. I was playing at Aria one night and my friend points to this guy walking into the Ivey Room.

"Do you know who that is?"
"No. Who?"

"That's Zhang Ziyi's husband."

Most beta moment of my life.

Yes and yes. Chow Yun Fat is GOAT and might be my alter ego. Michelle Yeoh is the best actress in everything she plays in. Loved her in The Lady. Hated to find out that Aung San Suu Kyi is a racist POS.

The original TZ is my favorite tv show ever, and I've enjoyed the earlier reboots as well. Plus I talked liked Get Out and Us. But I just watched the first two new TZ episodes and they were both bad.

If you have a chance to see Amazing Grace on the big screen with a good sound system, please do so. It's now my favorite concert film, and I can't even remember what my previous favorite was. (Maybe Stop Making Sense?)

All three of these actors had incredible chemistry in CTHD. Just something else to see them playing off of each other.

Man, that sucks. TZ might also be my favorite show of all time --even more so than Star Trek. And I love the movies that Peale is making. My hopes for the new TZ were sky high.

Motown was the acme of pop music, and Aretha was the queen. Just so effortless in her delivery.

Re: Talk About Movies: Part 4

woohoo, starting watching my charter criterion channel movies. Great for watching foreign, artsy, intellectual films which I admire. Treated myself to Ordet(1955, Danish, Dreyer) and Mirror(1975, Russian, Tarkovsky) . Wonderful but now I need some less mindful video to take a rest. Game of Thrones should do it!

Re: Talk About Movies: Part 4

Tucker and Date vs. Evil Silly stupid "horror" movie about silly stupid college kids and silly stupid hillbillies. I gotta admit I found myself laughing out loud at the silly stupidness. If you are in the mood for mindless nonsense, I'd recommend.

The Dawn Wall To guys try to climb the "Dawn Wall" face of El Capitan for the first time. The actual climbing doesn't evoke the same "oh my god" response as Free Solo, but it is an impressive feat nonetheless. The back story is just crazy, though. I won't reveal, but it's scarier than climbing a cliff imo.

Love both of those artsy films. But there's always a need for some foolishness, too.

Re: Talk About Movies: Part 4

Ok movie people. Save my sanity.

The horror at Notre Dame today has me thinking of one of my favourite pieces of history. Hitler ordered Notre Dame destroyed at the end of WWII but it was found full of explosives but not destroyed because General von Choltitz defied Hitler and refused to do it because it was so beautiful.

This story is told in a movie. What one? I can’t remember and it’s driving me nuts!

The movie is not about this. It’s an off hand story told in the movie.
