I have a fondness for The Matrix sequels, but they have many flaws. Chief among them, it isn’t really the story that the original film set up at all.

Tangentially move-related, Laurence Fishburne was on the Star Talk podcast. He and Neil DeGrasse Tyson have fun.

Same here : I completely understand any criticism one can have of them, how little concise they are, that the storyline/narrative is all over the place, but I appreciate just that, the symbolism that touches a bit of everything - without, I concede, digging deeper into each concept touched...

Nice! I have Star Talk podcast saved on my favourites, and as much as I appreciated reading some of DeGrasse Tyson's books, I just log off when he starts laughing out loud/can't really dig his geekish sense of humor, but do pick and choose certain episodes to listen to (and will listen to this one ).

Welp, I'll be on a Lynch watch party for the foreseeable future.

My best friend and writing partner's mom had (still has) the largest location library in L.A. And I worked a lot for her on various movies and TV shows. It was awesome. I got yelled at by Oliver Stone on the set of The Doors because I wouldn't let him ruin the tile of a house I was repping.

David Lynch was always understanding of what he could and could not do in the house...and would always yell my name, "DOMINIC...can we do this?" And I'd give him a yay or nay.

We happened to be at the craft services table at the same time once, and we had a 5 minute discussion on why Red Vines were better than Twizzlers. He really thought the texture of Red Vines was far superior, and the sugar rush much better. I said I could finish a whole package of Red Vines, easy, no problem, and he grasped my shoulders and said, "We understand one another, Dominic."

I seriously doubt I understand David Lynch, but that was pretty cool.

Oh, and years later, he remembered me when my GF and I went to Lynch Fest in L.A. a couple of years ago, and we had bought the package that allowed us into a cocktail party with Lynch. He seemed quite excited when he realized I worked briefly on Lost Highway. He wanted to know if I was still in the location repping biz, and I said, no, but he insisted on telling my GF how important that was on any movie set. "If you don't treat the house with respect, than no other production will be able to use that house ever again, and that would be a shame."

That was funny.
I posted this a few years ago about my brief experience "working" with David Lynch.

I will miss him.

I am still trying to wrap my head around it...

Even though he has look very fragile to me over the last few years, I would have hoped that he would outlive me.

I clearly remember the day Kubrick passed away because I was trashed by the loss, I think I am more upset today.

Same. I was driving and heard it on NPR and I burst into tears. That surprised me lol.

He was like that weird, funny uncle who you loved beyond all reason to me.

That's a great story, Dom! I can't imagine riding that high after an interaction like that. I'm beside myself and reading the kind words from talented writers online is both comforting and painful.

Criterion has already begun streaming most of Lynch's films, including Inland Empire, Lost Highway, along with Eraserhead, Twin Peaks, and Mulholland Drive. Also included are a few short films.

1986, so I must have been 16, my parents decided the family would go see a movie. I remember a few things (Pabst Blue Ribbon!!!), but the movie went completely over my head. And that's about as close as I ever got to understanding Davie Lynch.

Take a look at Elephant Man... it's more accessible.

This reminded me of my first rated R movie for some reason, but I do remember it. I was too young, so not sure why my parents took us. I might have been 12 (brother thee years older, sister two years younger -- can't remember if she was there), and they took us to see The Jerk!

I remember thinking it was funny and not getting some (a lot, I'm sure) of it. When I saw it as an adult I was shocked. Holy Cow! What were my parents thinking? Still love the movie

The teacher throwing the glowsticks reminded me of this time my friend got searched by the cops after they broke up an underground rave. They found glowsticks in all four of his pockets. By the end of the search, everyone was laughing. Anyway, this trailer was hilarious. Gonna check out more of this guy's videos.
