You’re not required to like the protagonist of a story.

Protagonist was really good at math, the triangles and whatnot. I'll always like his stories for that.

Guardians of the Galaxy 3 was pretty much what you’d expect. Entertaining, tho.

The Pope’s Exorcist is worth watching strictly for Russell Crow chewing the scenery in Italian. The rest is crap.

I love the Guardians of the Galaxy movies.

Caught the newer True Grit the other day. Thought I'd seen it, but didn't remember it ending the way it did.

I wonder how much of the shooting was in the same locations. The shootout on horseback looked like the same meadow as the original film. I'm sure there's thousands of similar-looking places, though.

Pretty good, liked Bridges' version of Rooster.

Azor (Andreas Fontana, 2021)

Liked this a lot. Heart of Darkness-inspired movie about a Swiss private banker on a business trip to Argentina in 1980. Not action-packed, to put it mildly, but feels really perfectly made. A lot of talking in beautiful locations, everything simmering under the surface. Beautifully shot and acted. Watched on Mubi.

Some of you get a kick out of these art works that I collect... A few more Screen print posters that I have gotten over the last couple months.

Those are nice, MSchu. How do you display them all?

Some great ones there. I like Vertigo, Eyes Wide Shut, and Paris, Texas. And that North by Northwest really captures one of the great moments in that film.

it's not possible... I have way to many pieces of art work to display so I can rotate hanging pieces or leave them in flat file storage.

I used to try and cram as much onto the walls as possible, but I don't do that anymore because it really detracts from each piece and less is more.

I do still have a lot hanging though.

One of my students did his final paper on Paris, Texas, exploring it as a critique of the American Dream and a Wenders road movie, among other things.

Another student did both papers on The Hannah Montana movie, calling it a masterpiece. I was almost convinced, at least enough to watch it someday.

And another student wrote on sound in Funny Girl.

Some odd choices, but all good papers.

Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio

I'm not a particularly big fan of Pinnochio but I'm a huge fan of del Toro. He really is amazing, and did a superb job here. Everything about the movie was perfect. The story was perfectly told, the tropes were done perfectly, and everything was fun to watch. I especially enjoyed the scenes with

Spoiler:
Death and the wood sprite

I really appreciate del Toro's way of making fantasy elements look unique and surreal. I didn't realize this won best animated picture until I googled it afterwards. I have no idea what it was up against, but it's hard to imagine anything coming even close to the quality of this.

Malignant LOLworthy horror. Sort of rambles for a while, then gets crazy. Lots of fun if you like this sort of thing.

The Menu.

What is it that makes critics fawn over this?

The food?

Because the story is ridiculously boring and nonsensical.

Liam Neeson is decent as the chef, I guess.

Everything about it seems like abstract art that's why

Unfortunately not. I've never read it and my only exposure to the story was the Disney movie. While it's a great movie, I'd rank it very low amongst the Disney greats.

This version made me appreciate the story far more.
