I must say that Colin Farrell has become one of my favorite actors. He was incredible in this. I didn't see The Whale, so I can't comment on Brendan Fraser's performance, but it's tough to imagine a better performance this past year than Farrell.
I’ve always been in the Farrell fan club. He is a great interview guest when he drops the typical actor-doing-the-rounds gig, have listened to some pods with him, he really has that humble, reflective, sometimes regretful air that a lot of people in long term sobriety do. He spent a lot of his acting prime in full blown addiction, I hope he gets his due eventually.
There’s a lesser known movie with him called Ondine where he plays an alcoholic fisherman who catches a girl in his net. Best to go into it not knowing anything. It’s one of my favorites. Girl is absolutely stunning to boot.
