I just tried to watch that Mother! horror movie from a few years back, lol what a ****ing mess. An ungodly fiasco of a motion picture! I felt a little embarrassed for everyone involved tbh.

Partway through the movie I looked around at the audience and I'll never forget feeling like all of us shouldn't be there. I felt like we were doing something illegal by watching Mother! Then I looked over at my wife and she was giggling and smiling. She loved it. I enjoyed it.

I recently watched the babysitter and it’s sequel the babysitter: killer queen on Netflix. The babysitter is a comedy horror film and it is terrible. The films premise is simple enough, a stunning blonde babysitter looks after an awkward 12 year old. She throws a party after he is supposed to be asleep and the kid wakes up and spies on them but discovers that there is more going on than a friendly get together; the babysitter violently murders one of her guest and is part of a demonic cult. The movie has genuine moments of humor and horror , best watched when bored. I enjoyed this movie, despite not relating to any of the characters except perhaps “ the dumb” one. I give it an overly generous 3 stars out of 5.
The sequel is objectively worse than the first one I guess but I was never invested in the first movie at all and found the second one to be acidentally hilarious. Almost campy. The “plot holes” made it more enjoyable to me. I actually prefer a movie like this to something like Austin powers where to much of the movie is invested “oww my balls”jokes. And one of the primary complaints of the sequel I liked:

Spoiler:
In the first film the next door girl is a cute, sweet class mate who lives next door and helps the main character survive his brush with stock young adult characters determined to take his blood. In the second movie She turns out to be the main baddie. And a never before seen character becomes his love interest. And the complaint is why would such a good person who is obviously right for him turn on him and join this blood cult for no reason? I think itÂ’s helpful for people to realize that in life thereÂ’s going to be people who check all the right boxes, should have your back no matter what, have a long standing friendship with you but in the end discard you like a piece of trash. And then people will come into your life who donÂ’t check any of the boxes, seem to have nothing in common with you but understand and have your back immediately, in some ways thatÂ’s what love is

The second movie is just ridiculous with dated references, plot holes, a less cohesive storyline and I prefer it.

Stormy Weather Old school musical featuring some of the greatest black performers of the day. The plot was really a shell to surround some fantastic song and dance numbers.

If you like this sort of movie, it is an absolute must see.

Even if you don't, try to catch the last number featuring the Nicholas brothers. One of the sickest dance routines you'll ever see.

I enjoyed the original Dune film when I saw the extended TV cut. Also liked the Sci-Fi cable TV version quite a bit. Really enjoyed the Sci-Fi sequel "Children Of Dune" which covered the story from both that and the "Dune Messiah" books, featuring the first major role of James McAvoy. I thought the stories from books 2-4 were better than the story from the first book anyway. This new adaptation seems a bit redundant really, but I wonder if this new movie goes well, if they will eventually make several sequels. "God Emperor Of Dune" would be really tough to film without coming across as silly, as the main character is a human / sandworm hybrid.

I believe they're splitting book 1 into two movies, so at least one sequel. It certainly looks great. One of the few (maybe the only?) remake I've been looking forward to.

Dune is one of the greatest works of sci-fi, but most modern audiences aren’t that familiar with the story. Earlier films were hampered by budget and technology of the times. Seems like a great opportunity to give an auteur like Villeneuve a crack at it.

That latest Dune trailer looks epic...exactly how I imagined it looking when I was a kid reading the books. Villenueve can do no wrong.

I think your point of confusion is in thinking that Dune is an action movie. It's more like Game of Thrones in space. Guile and treachery are so common that royal houses have countless "poison snoopers" constantly puttering about. There's action, sure, but not really in the way you're thinking.

People who know Dune will be going to see this no matter what. That trailer is to target a younger audience, and the rare olds that don't know the story. I'm sure the action scenes were hammed up to fit that trailer too.

if you hate that overtly slow corny dialog routine, you're gonna love the double feature I watched today...

First was Steve Buscemi acted/directed Trees Lounge (1996)... A great ACTION PACKED no holes bared STAR PACKED thriller about a guy that always gets the girl and the destruction that he leaves in his wake as he sidles his way thru life.

After that I watched a fantastic action drama called Bagdad Cafe (1987) where the badass 'Artist' Jack Palance falls in love, steals another mans wife and runs roughshod over a small collection of eclectic individuals all trapped in a foreboding run down Diner...

check out those two WONDERFUL films if you want some modern action choreography and action storytelling, they are great.

A Quite Place 2 - it had suspenseful moments but also the standard characters do idiotic things/how is that possible moments.

A couple questions,
Spoiler:
did the aliens come on a ship or meteorite? Did that one really drive a boat to the island?

Enjoyed this one for what it was. Decent 90 mins of entertainment. Not sure why they all want to live THAT badly though.

Spoiler:
I assumed that it hid underneath the boat Cillian Murphy and the kid drove to the island.

Seems like a risky strategy given that Blade Runner 2049 didn't meet box office expectations, and neither have other recent 'highbrow' sci-fi films like Adam Astra. The market may not be there.

It simply could not be told satisfyingly in one film. There’s a pretty obvious spot in the book to split it.

Market or not, it seems at least some producers have learned to just trust Villeneuve and let him do his thing. 2049 may not have been a box office success, but it’s a film that will be talked about for decades.

They were on a different one I thought.

I did like that the movie was only 90 minutes, I am finding myself not really wanting to watch 2+ hour movies anymore.

a quiet place nitpick/rant

Spoiler:
it's been 474 days since the aliens showed up and yet in the sequel the lead character has an infant child? in a world where noise = death you think it's a good idea to bring a child into this world who will undoubtedly spend a large % of its early life crying and making a bunch of noise???

Blade Runner 2049 was one of my favorite movies if not my favorite movie of the last few years. I love Villenueve. All that being said, after watching the latest Dune trailer my excitement for seeing it is at an all-time low. I think I'd rather just rewatch Jodorowsky's Dune, where it also so happens
Spoiler:
the trailer for Jodorowsky's Dune >>>>>> this Dune's trailer.
