I had a poster of The Deep on my wall when I was a teen - mostly because of Jaqueline Bisset's white, wet see-thru t-shirt.

Mine was the playmate of the year... the exact one that Coppola used as the lead playmate in Apocalypse Now... talk about flash backs once I first saw that film.

Also, Natasha Kinski and Boa.

Lucky Number Slevin (2006) crime thriller film starring Josh Hartnett, Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Ben Kingsley, Stanley Tucci, and Lucy Liu. This film is set in beautiful New York City and the plot focuses on the paths of Slevin Kelevra (Hartnett), Lindsey (Liu), two feuding crime lords known as The Boss (Freeman) and The Rabbi (Kingsley), and a mysterious hitman known as Mr. Goodkat (Willis).

This a great movie with lots of twists and turns in the plot structure. Very enjoyable, uninhibitedly bigoted and racist, and violent, with an over abundance of male toxicity, and also tossed in, in a token manner, female toxicity and bitchiness.

Condemned by every right thinking thought control group on the planet, this is must see movie.

Five hate-crimes out of Five.

The Dirty Dozen (1967) film starring Lee Marvin and a mind-numbing supporting cast including Ernest Borgnine, Charles Bronson, Jim Brown, John Cassavetes, George Kennedy, Robert Ryan, Telly Savalas, Robert Webber and Donald Sutherland.

Lee Marvin is outstanding in this movie. The rest of the cast is good to great. I saw this movie years ago and I still like it as a great film. Plus the Nazi scum get it in the end, by the American Scum trained by Lee Marvin. Doesn't get much better.

Five hand grenades out of five.

Glad movie theaters are open again

A Quiet Place Part II: An improvement over the first. The opening sequence is fantastic. The daughter took a major step up with her performance. Some super goofy stuff, including some weird choices and stuff happening that will destroy anyone who nitpicks a movie. It's possible I enjoyed this more because it was the first movie I watched theatrically since Tenet.

The Conjuring 3: Fun enough, but most people won't enjoy this. Mostly forgettable jump scare fest. Enjoyed the sound mix.

Fast Nine: I actually kinda loved this one? I've been checked out since Fast 6. Was cool to have some gaps filled in, scenes of Dom as a kid. I know stakes haven't been a thing in this series since the first movie, but it wouldn't shock me if they randomly brought back Jesse and Vince.

Censor: This one is available on demand. Super moody, atmospheric suspense/thriller. A woman works for a censorship board, gets into trouble when a copycat kill happens IRL. She becomes fascinated with an actress in slasher films. She dives deeper, investigating a film producer and director. Thoroughly enjoyed this one.

MSchu,
if you are in the habit of commissioning original art pieces, may i suggest reaching out to Jason Prouty at Garage 31 (FYI, if that isn't his actual work it sure looks a lot like his style). Garage 31 typically hand paints large murals for a certain footwear company, but Jason is an airbrush artist extraordinaire. google image search 'jason prouty artist' and you'll see what i mean.

Perhaps I spoke too soon. It may take a Marvel to approach Eagle Killing Heroes.

I caught The Little Foxes on TCM the other day, just tremendous. I think it was William Wyler day or something, they were showing some of his greatest ones and this is right up there. Very powerful, and it's not just for Bettle Davis either. Herbert Marshall as her dying husband is unforgettable. He knows he's surrounded by vipers and he thinks he can get the better of them, but maybe not so much!

Although the term "arthouse animation" frightens me, I will fight through my fears and congratulate them for showing some really good stuff.

Willy Wonka and the Chocolatey Factory... Just released on 4k UHD.
The Films looks magnificent and breathed new life into a film we have all seen so many times over these last few decades.

I recently purchased a yearly $50 subscription to Metrograph, a kind of highbrow NYC movie theater that opened up a few years back. Right now they have some limited run films you can stream online and other films on demand for longer period. There's a couple Herzog films on right now. I like the idea of an old style movie theater with a curated selection of films and look forward to visiting when it opens back up in a few months.

If anyone here likes concert films, Summer of Soul is as good as it gets. It has some monster performances from some monster groups in 1969.

My wife bought me the Godzilla Criterion Collection. Super stoked!! I've seen the original a number of times, but have no recollection of the other movies. We're starting with Godzilla (1954) tonight

wait until you get to Invasion of Astro-Monster and Destroy All Monsters!

I am always surprised at how sad the Original Gojira film is... with Akira Ifukubes BEAUTIFUL score, it's really touching and very poignant.
