Charlie Wilson’s War, starring blab, blah, blah. Fun movie that I greatly enjoyed. Parts based on actual events. Hot babes and cocaine included. Two things that always go well together.

Hoffman’s office scene when he loses it was my favorite PSH scene and one of my favorite scenes ever

Watched Almost Famous again the other day and PSH was so good as Lester. Bangs. It’s steaming on Prime and is one of my favorite movies. Can’t believe it’s 20 years old.

Lester Bangs in his prime had those rock music rants that were both steaming and streaming, it's true. Btw I noticed there was a zoom-call 20 year reunion for Almost Famous with Crowe, Hudson, Crudup, and the now grown-up kid on Youtube but I haven't watched it yet. I think Youtube offered it to me cause I was watching old videos of Lester Bangs himself going off.

A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night is really good if you like Iranian vampire disco westerns--and even if you don't.

Got the urge to watch The Rock after “...Zeus’s BUTTHOLE” popped into my head for no reason. And that sent me on an action series binge and I’ve been loving it!!

Did the Bourne series, Mission Impossible series, Oceans and am starting John Wick now. Sprinkled in a few single movies in between but the series’ were all such a blast!! Probably gonna run out...

The Wicks just popped up on one of the streams and we watched them one two three. They have such beautifully creepy killable bad guys.

Thanks for the pick.

I'm giving you the award for picking the movie with the strangest production features of the year. It 's a modern movie made in B/W in Farsi language, shot in California to be a desolate small oil town (Bad city) in Iran, with a vigilante vampire character, shot mostly at night by a female director on a low budget. Artfully done with beautiful use of lighting and shadow and framing. The shot of the vampire moving on a skate board stands out. As far as I can tell the story is about a vampire who is supporting the transition of the old Iranian patriarchy culture to better treatment for women and who interacts with a good-hearted young man.

Its free on the web (freemovie25) for now.

Watched Claire Denis's Beau travail again last night for the first time in 15 years or so. Such a great movie, and, as usual with Denis, it features a fabulous soundtrack. (Does anyone choose better music?) This time watching I paid much more attention to the film's narration and arrangement. Such a brilliant film.

Inherent Vice- like most of PTA’s work I’ll have to rewatch it before giving it an opinion, first impression was that it was missing something (comparatively speaking) but couldn’t put my finger on it. Brolin, Phoenix, and everyone else were fantastic and there were lots of memorable scenes, maybe I just missed the mark.

for me it was a generally the direction of story... there wasn't a direction.
Which in itself, is a thing.

Has anyone here seen the original Martyr movie? Normally I don't watch scaring films based on horror but I watched a youtube review of it and it sounds utterly extreme.

Do you mean the French suspense/horror movie? If so, yup, not exactly my cup of tea, but I definitely recommend it on its originality (and it is disturbing af as well ).

Martyrs (2008) is almost two movies. Somebody could probably skip the first half which is revenge horror and not miss much of the point of the movie. The second half is extended torture done for a specific "visionary" purpose which is revealed in the final few minutes of the film and raises it above the typical murderous psychopath film. But for me, it's overdone. IMO they could have condensed the movie to a one-half hour Twilight Zone show and make a better, less morbid movie.

BTW You can check the forum horror movie thread for this stuff.
