great films but people in their mid and early 40s now possibly didn't like see them as they came out as 80, 81, 85 releases, more like a borrow the older brother's vhs during a sleepover kind of introduction

just realized tommy boy and black sheep came out same years as billy madison and happy gilmore - could have sworn they were a good 5+ years earlier

I am 45 and I had Caddyshack, Stripes, and Spies Like Us memorized before I was a teenager. I don't remember how I started watching them bc my dad wasn't a big fan of those movies.

caddyshack taught me a valuable lesson that sometimes women look better with clothes on

Watched Fincher's The Game last night....easily his worst film, even worse than that Benjamin Button crap. So massively stupid.

Minding the Gap Documentary about three kids who grew up in rough homes who share a love for skateboarding. Then you do some research and you find out that Liu, who shoots the movie, didn't even meet the other two until they were in their 20's. The film used old footage from the two main characters and integrated it into Liu's footage when they are older. I enjoyed the skate footage, but not much else.

John Wick I've seen this numerous times but the first 30-45 minutes of this movie is awesome. I love the way John Wick is built up and twice it is just by saying "oh".

He seems to be a polarizing director. I've seen both those flicks on "Best" lists. Did you like Seven or Fight Club?

Se7en and Fight Club are both very good movies. I just couldn't get past the things I was asked to believe in The Game. It was just....stupid.

Portrait of Jason by Shirley Clarke is strange and fascinating. Also watched The Magnificent Ambersons, which I hadn't seen since I was a kid. Agnes Moorehead is fabulous in it. Great extras on the Criterion Chanel as well.

The Game is lots of fun.

Fincher easily makes my top 5 living directors list, I find all of his stuff very (re)watchable.

+1

of course the plot is ludicrous and full of galaxy sized holes but man it looks great and is lots of fun he just has such a fantastic style you always know you're watching a Fincher film.

I remember leaving the theater pissed off after seeing The Game due to the aforementioned issues. I've rewatched it a couple times and enjoyed it, knowing to suspend my disbelief

Plus we get Tense Michael Douglas, I don’t think it’s possible to dislike any movie starring Tense MD

Stumbled upon an interview with Fiona Apple who said the reason she quit cocaine was because she got stuck in a private movie theater with PT Anderson (who she used to date) and Quentin Tarantino. “Every addict should just get locked in a private movie theatre with Q.T. and P.T.A. on coke, and they’ll never want to do it again.”

Pretty funny mental picture

Rewatched Last of the Mohicans for the first time in years.

I used to always try to quality movies as ‘the best’ or ‘one of the best’, and although I find that harder to do now, for what it is, LOTM has always been and apparently always will be one of my favorite movies of all time. The stereotypes are a bit cringeworthy for me at this juncture but the cinematography, the battle scenes, the characters, the score, the completely believable white-hot fireworks between DDL and Stowe, and the (all-time great) last 25 minutes make it a movie I will never get tired of rewatching.
