I watched Christopher Robin with my granddaughter. One of life's simple pleasures. (And a lovely film, too.)

Funny I just watched the Big Short for the first time too. Better than I expected. They found a great balance between informative and entertaining.

I’ve been meaning to rewatch Arrival. I consider it elite and think the Malik comparisons are apt. It explores language and how we communicate in thought provoking ways without saying anything too concrete, because how could you? Reminds me of Interstellar in that it’s fun to suppose alternative ideas to concepts we might not understand as well as we think we do. Agree Villeneuve is one of the best.

Dark Waters was decent. I'd call it a bit of a worse The Insider but very similar.

I've watched it by myself a bunch of times and if you think watching Christopher Robin with her was a pleasure oh man you are in for a treat.

Been on a Tom Hardy kick lately. Watched Tinker, Legend, Inception, Lawless and The Revenant in the last month.

Have not seen Warrior or Locke. Any opinions?

I thought it was quite good at explaining what happened in laymen's terms. Having some understanding of the shenanigans only made it all the more infuriating.

I can see why Steve Carrell's character got so pissed off at these thieves.

Anyway, quite well done. If there are any other laggards like myself, worth a watch.
It's a great movie. I have read the book I think 3 times. Was worried they wouldn't be able to translate it to laypeople well. I'm in the financial world (not hedge funds) but I thought it did a good job of explaining the products well without dumbing down the subject matter.

Truth is the insurance rating companies guilt in this whole thing was maybe understated in the movie.

there are two types of people in the world...

Margin Call
People and The Big Short people.

I am a Chandor person... I really don't need to be taught or seemingly pandered to by a feature film and I much prefer good character study that is shrouded in historical elements as opposed to movie that is more infotainment.

SPEAKING OF WHICH, If you like either of those two films, I just watched a great film cased in the similar Genre of Corporate lifestyle. Penned by Rod Serling, the movie is 'Paterns' (1956). Its a fantastic character study of mid century executive corporate life that dances around a new naive executive (Van Heflin) that is hired by the President of the corporation to replace an outdated and declining Vice president.

Its a fantastic piece. (but its a character study and not a 'factualization'

I thought Locke was fascinating, but I also like how directors manage limited or restricted locations, so perhaps I'm not the best judge. Hardy is really good in it.

I loved both Margin Call and The Big Short. So I'm a "both" person.

Warrior is still my favourite movie of his, and I've probably seen it more than any other movie from this decade. Definitely watch that next imo.

Locke is good too, but it's basically just a guy talking on the phone for 90 minutes, so it's not for everyone.

Spoiler:
The message of this movie is act like a selfish disaster, attempt to kill yourself but don’t die for max sympathy, and now Instagram and everyone in your life that you **** all over will love you. Yikes.
Huh?,That doesn't even remotely describe the same movie Safety Not Guaranteed (2012) that I saw. Head scratching.....

Parasite was so absorbing and entertaining. It's rare for a film to be so constantly engaging and keep me dialled in throughout its running time. Throughout I was smiling, or feeling tense, or thinking 'wtf'. Maybe the social commentary is a bit too on the nose, but that's nitpicking.
