Wasn't Andy Griffith a professional whistler at one time? Or am I thinking of Dick Van Dyke?

Mschu,

Have you ever heard John Zorn's The Big Gundown?

Dom, I love that deleted scene, but I can see why it was deleted.

And that's great whistling, too.

mount your TV a little lower on the wall guaranteed you'll like it better.

it's time for a new monitor... that OLED has developed some screen burn, but it still looks fantastic. I am looking to go from 65 to 83, that will fill that space nicely.

perspective is slightly misleading in those shots as I have to use a wide angle to get both speakers in the frame. speakers are 17' apart center to center and main listen position is about 16' from the screen.

I got the new 4k version of Exotica on Criterion yesterday... its been a couple years since I have watched this and it was an utterly fantastic slow burn, really very good.

the picture was very nice in an otherwise traditionally soft presentation film with medium grain... I loved it.

what TV has the absolute best picture quality that's available in 83"?

anything that reaches the kuro elite levels?

I have a Panasonic VT-65 which was the successor to the kuro elite and I absolutely love it by far the best picture quality I've ever seen and I have a 55" kuro elite in the bedroom but I purchased the Panasonic many years ago and no idea what the current best picture quality options are.

I still rock my 65" plasma in the master bedroom... it still is going strong and it looks great. Unfortunately it is no 4k OLED.

Currently, there are three panels that rule the roost in the 65-83" category, two of which use tye same LG panel.
The LG C2 and G2 are the tops from LG, and the Sony 83" OLED.

Samsung has a really good contender but it is only Currently available as a 65" and that is their QD-OLED (Quantum Dot oled).

I need an 83, so it's the LG or the Sony... it's the same panel, but Sony software is a hair better... either is elite status. Right now I am leaning towards a LG C2 83" to try and save a few bucks since they are all basically the same... my finger was actually hovering above the buy it now bhtton this afternoon but I stopped myself. Tomorrow is another day though

We have a 53 and one around 60. We've been waiting for one to die so we can get a much larger one, but they just keep going. Both about 10 years old. Whatever happened to planned obsolescence?

What I can remember about that Exotica movie in 1994 was that I've never been so totally wrong about the relationship among the characters in a movie. Its all revealed in the final 20 minutes or so and changes everything. "Everybody Knows"

I got to see this in the theaters, and yeah, it completely fooled me. The movie is incredible.

Just a note. If you have access to Kanopy, you can watch almost every film by one of America's greatest filmmakers, Frederick Wiseman. And a must see is Titicut Folies, a searing indictment of the treatment of mentally ill criminals. I worked at one time in Bridgewater, Ma, a few minutes from The Bridgewater State Hospital for the Criminally Insane where Titicut Follies was filmed. Its most famous inmate was Albert DeSalvo.
