I did quite enjoy Freaky though, good performances from Vaughn and Newton and nice use of the body swap concept. Albeit I'm incapable of watching a horror film in a single sitting due to being easily scared.

Come To Daddy A young man gets a letter from his estranged father, asking him to come visit in a remote cabin in the northwest (I assume). Hilarity ensues.

Sort of tongue in cheek horror. Kinda weird. I enjoyed it. Fun to watch Frodo in something completely different.

Finch Yet another post-apocalyptic story. Yawn. A survivor of a solar flare builds a robot to assist him and his dog in a journey to San Francisco. This is really just a Tom Hanks movie, which isn't a bad thing. He's great to watch. There are some good bits in it but overall it falls a little flat. Warning! Plot holes galore.

Greyhound Another Hanks movie. Set in WWII, Tom is a captain in charge of a group of escort ships trying to protect a merchant ship convoy in the Atlantic.

The movie is a non-stop naval battle. They tossed in a completely useless romantic angle but fortunately it didn't take up much screen time. Good watch.

Don't Look Now (1973). I thought it was clever, not scary. Julie Christie and Donald Sutherland have the world working for their privileged, beautiful lives so screw them anyway.

Ghostbusters Afterlife. Meh. A few laughs here and there and a few good call backs. Mostly just a boring movie.

I'm sure I've seen the Torchy Blaine flick also. They used to show them on TBS on Saturday mornings (or maybe Sundays). Don't remember it.

King Richard was surprisingly good. Best performance from Will Smith in a while - he disappears into the role, which is unusual for him. Richard Williams' notorious self promotion is somewhat sanitised as although people call him out on it, you don't really see the Richard Williams show in full, obnoxious flight. Overall though it manages to be sympathetic without being too sentimental or melodramatic.

One Night In Soho has everything I like - 60s retro London style, a murder mystery with a big twist, pretty girls, great music, and Diana Rigg.

But it was not good. At all. It was completely flat...totally off, somehow. Weird.

This is exactly how I felt about Lucky Number Slevin.

Yeah all one night in soho did for me is get me to rewatch Baby Driver.

Shang Chi and the Legend Of the Ten Rings

Wow! Really impressed with this one...my GF and I watched it and were as enthralled as if we were kids. Just fantastic all around. Most definitely the best Marvel movie. Like a Marvel movie meets Crouching Tiger. And my GF loved the dragon.

For any Marvel nerds out there, My GF wants to know: what happens to the souls of those who get their souls sucked out by the soul eaters? Are they damned? In peace? Just really dead now? Or is it never addressed?

I forgot that the young Jack Nicholson even existed. My theory is that the movie still holds up, but can’t possibly have a modern audience when reality is more iconoclastic than anything Chinatown hoped to achieve. I really liked the film score on this, but haven’t been able to analyze why. Check it out!

Huh, I also watched this recently, I had seen all the previous Marvel movies, and this one I liked less than any of the previous ones. Nothing caught my interest at all, I kept going back to my boring email while watching. Not a fan of any martial arts movies though.

You know what happens to people that get nosey?

They end up in Chinatown.


I love this flick and I think it holds up well (1974 vintage).

Last Night in Soho started very strong, but it falls apart completely in the third act. "I don't know how to end this movie. I know, I will just throw in every horror movie cliche that exists in the space of 20 minutes! I am a genius!"
