Searching for Bobby Fischer The wife and I were watching a little news blurb about a chess prodigy so we thought we would watch this.

It's a little sappy, manipulative, and predictable. But who cares. It sucks you in and doesn't let go. So much fun to watch.

I love that film and have rewatched it multiple times.

For perfect comedy, I keep getting stuck on Delicatessen.

I thought the second Pink Panther that had Peter Sellers was great when it came out, but it didn't hold up for me.

There are plenty of comedies made before WWII that still do hold up for me. Marx Brothers, William Powell / Myrna Loy, classic screwball romances, etc.

It's one of those charming, small films that works. October Sky is another.

Will co-sign Ace Ventura. Carrey has to be one of the funniest physical comedians ever.

Malkovich probably tier below, but I should rewatch. Love Adaptation, but wouldn’t have called it a comedy.

Guess I should watch The Graduate.

Searching for Bobby Fischer is such a wonderful film. It works on many different levels, and while the setting is the world of chess, it's not a movie about chess and you don't need to know anything about chess to enjoy it. If you were involved in any kind of competitive activity as a kid at a more than casual level, this film will resonate with you.

Here's the trailer for those who haven't seen it:

All great. I'd want to add City Lights, Mr. Hulot's Holiday, and The Shop Around the Corner.

A Cure For Wellness https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4731136/
An ambitious executive is sent to the Swiss Alps to find his company's CEO and gets trapped in a mysterious and creepy health spa that is performing weird treatments on its patients.
Quite a dark movie that made me cringe in a few places, not the sort of thing I would normally watch but I did enjoy this one.

i've always thought the opening credits to Delicatessen were beautifully done and a perfect intro to the tone of the film.

re: rewatchable comedies

i'm a big fan of Tropic Thunder, Airplane!, anything Monty Python, and many of the other films listed above, but i don't believe i've yet seen mention of Blazing Saddles (which is in my top 5)

other rewatchable films include Young Frankenstein, I Love You To Death, A Fish Called Wanda, and Clue

Watched Gaspar Noe's 'Climax and liked it a lot. Movie seamlessly transitions from being a euphoric drug movie into a psychological horror, some cool dance sequences + long tracking shots, Noe's use of colors/lighting continues to be top notch, Noe is more restrained here and doesn't go completely off the rails like he normally does. I've always kind of enjoyed Noe's concepts but Enter The Void goes from interesting to unwatchable pretty fast but with Climax it seems like he's finally figured it out

edit// If you despised Entire The Void you probably won't like Climax, but if you thought Enter The Void was interesting then I think you'll like this.

Just saw an advance preview of Us.
Entertaining and well made, but didn't make much sense. I liked Get Out more.

Hmmm I fell asleep when I watched it guess I should revisit sooner rather than later. I love the main actress from her work in the uk show peep show but the movie didn’t grab me for some reason, probably because I was too exhausted to pay attention

May have to avoid Us spoilers til Monday. Cannot freaking wait. I enjoyed Get Out enough, but thought it took a steep decline in the final act. I realize I'm in the minority there. Love Peele's language of film.
