What struck me was how young Armstrong, Aldrin, and Collins looked. While I was growing up, they were giants. But now, I'm 20 years older than they were then. Makes me teary.

To me, this is still the most impressive, most awe-inspiring technological and exploratory achievement in the history of mankind.

Go see it on the big screen!
Buzz and Chuck Yeager are active on Twitter. Enjoy them while they’re still around imo.

Lol wtf is this list. Of the top thirty I’ve seen none of them and only even heard of around 6. In comparison I’ve watched probably 2/3 of the AFI list and heard of basically all of them.

I liked Forgetting Sarah Marshall a lot and own it on Blu-ray but disagree it’s the perfect comedy. I find it diminishes a lot on repeat viewings. Probably a few dozen comedies at least that I like more. Not even sure it’s in my top five of Apatow universe films.

It focuses on foreign film more. I’ve seen all the top 20 and many of the others. If you haven’t seen the number one you really should. It’s among my favourite films all time and I’m an atheist.

When you begin to take a real interest in film, you seek out great films. This list reminds me I should really watch Babette's Feast some time. And I'm an atheist, too.

PERFECT is the only acceptable rating for FSM. kbyethx lol =p I find comedies to be the most rewatchable movies. I used to scoff at others who call it perfect/top tier comedy, but on a rewatch I enjoyed every single scene, and every comedic bit slaps. Mila Kunis low key the MVP of that movie.

Love, Death + Robots https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9561862/

Fantastic anthology of animated shorts spanning comedy, sci-fi, horror and fantasy.

Rewatched The Matrix. It's been endlessly parodied and ripped off but that's because it's so good.

#5 is about a donkey. I can't imagine ever getting to 5, but apparently donkeys pull a lot of weight in the film world.

It’s a truely great film and while about a donkey is one of the most humanist films ever made.

That’s just, like, your opinion man.

Now THAT might be my perfect comedy

In high school and college when I was trying to develop more sophisticated taste I sought out a lot of those types of movies and even the ones I pretended to like I was often bored by. Probably would be a different story today but at the same time the quality of modern popular culture has increased so much I probably still won’t find the time to watch them.

That said, I am in the middle of watching Yojimbo right now.

Watching Broken Arrow on TCM, a western that according to Pauline Kael, no one doesn't like.

Interesting. I wouldn't think that many people who like the former would be fans of the latter (or vice versa). But what do I know.

I've tried to watch D&D on a couple of occasions and just could not get myself to sit through it.

Agree with both these. Of all the “pretentious” classic movies I sought out in my teens Dr S was by far my favorite. I remember watching D + D for the first time on vhs with my next door neighbors and cracking up laughing the entire duration.

Other ones I’d pick as close to perfect: Naked Gun, Superbad, Pineapple Express, In Bruges, Dodgeball, Borat, Talladega Nights, and Fargo
