Sicario 2 - I liked it, some really good scenes. Not sure I understand the plot turn

Spoiler:
Why didn't the USA stick with the returning kidnapped Cartel daughter back home like they were doing? Instead of changing it to killing everyone none military person involved? Also, there is almost no chance the kid would remember Del Toro in that situation let alone them ever meeting again.

I just watched it as well, after reading the book earlier this year.

You are correct, because the beginning of the movie was accurate to what really happened, as told in the book, then most of the end was made up for the movie. Unfortunately, IRL they pulled the plug on the guy's undercover KKK operation before anything really exciting managed to happen.

I also thought it got kinda silly, but still was an entertaining movie.

Momentum Generation - HBO surfing documentary focusing on surfing going mainstream in the 80’s and 90’s. Kelly Slater and crew including Kalani Robb who was in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. The surfing footage and footage among the young group of friends is A+. It’s a great documentary that made me feel like a kid at times, an old man at times and punched me in the gut. I’ve already rewatched it. 9/10.

Spidey-Man: Into the Cartoon Spidey-Verse!

Bitten by a spider: 10 years ago!

Your shoe's untied: I know!

Everyone knows: It's a puberty thing!

Spiderless Brooklyn: They're everywhere!

Spidey is Dead! Long live Spidey!

In case of fire: Use the stairs!

22 years ago: I was bitten by a spider!

Homeless corpse: He's got a bagel!

Hot Chick with a Shave Undercut Spidey-Fu; Porky Pig Spidey-Fu; Kawaii Shibuya Girl Spidey-Fu; Sam Spade Spidey-Fu; Anguished Metrosexual Spidey-Fu.

A leap of faith: Chrysalis!

Rapping Spidey: Does the Flagpole Whirl!

Gets a little confusing towards the end -- apparently the animation team dropped acid (I mean that in a good, Loony Tune-ish way) -- but easily the best superhero movie ever made. Surpasses even Lego Batman. A strong contender for best picture of 2018. Check it out.

Three Identical Strangers - doc about triplets who are separated at birth, have no idea the others exist, then miraculously find each other. Starts off feelgood, then takes a disturbing turn. An email unsettling film that raises all sorts of ethical questions.

I watched it in theaters; I don't think you would lose much watching it on Netflix provided you had a decent TV to be able to drink in the cinematography.

It's a very intimate movie, so I don't think a TV would take away much of anything from the experience.

I couldn't figure out what the draft was about, but Detective Pikachu is getting tons of worldwide social media buzz and looks to be a monster.

They Shall Not Grow Old

Peter Jackson has cleaned-up, colorized, added sound and 3d to WWI footage. He uses the voice of veterans to tell the story of WWI.

It is hands-down one of the most amazing films I’ve ever seen. When they say film can transform you to a place this is what they are talking about.

It has a very limited screening and only the theatrical release has a 30 minute doc, after credits, which shows you how they did it.

If you can see this in theatres GO!

Grade: A+

I watched this tonight. I almost turned it off during the 3-4 minute opening sequence of seemingly endless credits being shown while water was splashed on a tile floor. I wish I had.

I understand that this movie has garnered almost universal acclaim, so I realize that mine is a minority opinion, but I'm sorry, it almost put me to sleep several times. Literally, nothing happens during the first 90 minutes of the film. And I am not exaggerating. I kept waiting and waiting and finally, at about the 95 minute mark, the movie got somewhat interesting.

Now, admittedly, the last 40 minutes or so were okay; but just as it started to get interesting, it ended. Or rather, it just stopped. There wasn't really an ending to the movie. It was if I was reading a novel and when I turned the page to begin the next chapter, I was greeted with a blank page.

I've enjoyed Cuaron's other films, but this one was just not for me.

Marwencol Rewatched this due to the upcoming film. Gotta be in my top 5 (if not number 1) best documentaries. If you've never seen it, do.

I'm really skeptical that the movie does this justice. I'm already sort of cringing at the trailer.

I finally went and saw RockyVIII I mean Creed II and enjoyed it. But I am a Rockyhaulic. Totally predictable and follows the same formula as the previous efforts. If you switch out little Creed for Rocky and little Drago for Clubber Lang it is extremely similar in plot/story to Rocky III.

But if Stallone keeps playing Rocky in movies I will keep watching them. I love them all But if he wanted to end the franchise once and for all that would be fine too. Must watch if you liked all the previous ones but probably avoidable if you aren't already a fan.

Favorite line? Rocky walks up to Drago and says "Is that you?"

Yeah, the trailer looks horrible....the doc was incredible. What do you want to bet that the movie makes no mention of his, um, shoe fetish?"

Shoplifters - Surprised no one itt has reviewed this Palme D'Or winner (seems to be favourite for best foreign film Academy Award assuming Roma gets bumped to the main award).

Sort of a distant Japanese cousin of Oliver Twist. In theory this ticked every box as far as what I like. I was expecting to rhapsodise about Shoplifters but instead found it merely decent. The first half of the two hour film was too slow but tbf that could be because I struggled to follow what was going on. I think lots of posters itt would love Shoplifters - I'm keen to view more of director Hirokazu Koreeda's œuvre - lots of his film are very highly regarded and he's clearly talented and creative.

It's coming to town next month. I've already got tickets. We're a little behind on this side of the pond.

I’m kind of surprised that Mary Poppins has two songs drawing live for an Oscar but A Star is Born only has one.

Not that I’ve seen MPR but I thought if multiple songs could get nominated from the same movie, ASiB would get a couple.

Would love to see Kung Fu Kenny get an Oscar but “Shallow” is a better song.
