Summertime, And The Livin' Is Easy: Lounge Summer LC Thread Summertime, And The Livin' Is Easy: Lounge Summer LC Thread

Just got a message on my phone from a guy I never really heard of before. Turns out we went to High School together but never really crossed paths. It was a big graduating class with about 600 students. He was inviting me to the class of '71 50 year reunion which will take place in September. 50 years! In some ways seems like yesterday and in some ways seems like 100 years ago.

I am undecided if I go or not. Except for one guy (my brother-in-laws brother) I really haven't seen anyone from HS since the 70's. The one real intriguing thing he mentioned was my best friend growing up (the kid from across the street) wondered if I was in fact the me from the class of 71 and that he would be there. We pretty much lost touch when I entered the Navy in 75.

Not sure if I will call this guy back or not? I'm definitely gonna drink on it tonight! I looked the guy who called up in the yearbook and had no idea he ever existed. I looked at the website they had from the 40th reunion a few years ago and I pretty much didn't recognize anyone although I remembered names and people. I still keep in very close touch with my college friends but HS never really stuck with me.

Mr. Baseball,

Our 50th has been postponed to next year. I will go because I still have many friends from high school, and I enjoyed seeing friends from 40 years before at the 40th.

My advice: go. What the hell. It's only one night.

Yeah, at this point in life what the hell? I know you and Zeno are fellow 71ers so it was nice going to different high schools together I am gonna see my brother-in-laws brother in a couple of weeks at my Sisters 50th wedding anniversary so I will see what he thinks but my early lean is I probably go, You only have one 50th reunion right? And after that everybody is probably dead

I was surprised at the 40th reunion that at least ten had died from a graduating class of around 200. AIDS and cancer.

i've had around 10 die from my graduating class of 64 and we haven't hit the 35th reunion yet.

why go if you have no connection to them.

Ray, my high school never had a reunion, but I think I get the appeal.

Yeah, I don't get it either. Have only kept in touch with one of my friends from growing up, and he was in the next class anyway.

Only an aunt and uncle left up north, so not a real compelling reason to do a combined visit either. Next year will be my fortieth. I can't imagine traveling 1000 miles to see people I haven't talked to in 35 years.

But then again, I don't particularly like the area from which I came. YMMV.

Slightly different circumstances for me. My three or four best friends all went to high school and college together, and RI is a small state, so we even have mini high school reunions now and then. I was surprised at the 40th reunion how fondly I remembered a few people I hadn't seen in forty years.

Agreed. This would be an absolute hard no from me until he brought up the fact my childhood friend would be there as that is the only allure to me. Still haven't decided yet though. I only live about 5 miles away from my HS but since graduation I have lived in 9 different states.

Just saw an article about the Canadian heat wave. Apparently, a bunch of mussels, clams, and other shell fish were cooked alive while on the beach.

we have major heat waves and drought facing us in the west. there will be some water wars fought between users as everyone wants more to waste when there is much less available for the big wasters of it.

unless in july or august some big rains come there will be a record breaking fire season. despite the forest service asking people to please douse campfires with water.

And it's been wet and cool here on the East Coast.

gotta keep the grass green and mowed. everyone wants to live in the desert, but no one wants the natural beauty of it, i guess.

they need to ban lawns or at least watering your lawn in desert areas that import their water.
07-11-2021 , 10:00 PM
Who are “they”? Ray!

Ban people; and have them shipped to the Moon. No lawns on the Moon. Yet.
07-11-2021 , 10:10 PM
Are there no humans on the moon because there is no lawn, or is there no lawn on the moon because there are no humans?

Lawns and pools. And not just deserts, and semi-arid place with water problems. And now they are try to find ways to boost the birth rate. People are idiots.
