I've kind of fell in love with Austin. It's just wonderful here. There's a few bad points, like:

-- Too hot! Ugh. I hear it snows in the winter, so then I'll be complaining about it being too cold!

-- I'm absolutely frightened of getting a haircut down here.

-- Clothes. Yuck.

-- The craft beer tastes watery.

But other than that, everything else is pretty mind blowing. I'm thinking of just staying here.

Remember when diebitter used to watch and review Star Trek episodes?

I have a friend who's father recently passed away. It was a super-sudden, healthy one day, dead the next kind of situation. He died of a stroke, which he should have probably survived, but in any case, he's gone, and yeah, he left a will.

The will states that my friend is to get the house. The problem is that the mom is still alive. I obviously did not read the will, but my friend's brother now has Power of Attorney. I have no clue how all of this works, but okay.

The brothers are pressuring my friend to drop everything in her life and move in with her mom because, apparently, the mom can't take care of herself. The brothers are holding it over her head that she must move in, or the house will be sold and the money will go to putting the mom in a convalescence home.

She told me that she was going to talk to her brothers and try to figure out how all of this is supposed to work out. Now, no one can blame her for not wanting to drop everything in her life and move in with her mother. There's a lot of things going on that, well, the death is interrupting.

My only advice to her don't talk to the brothers anymore and get a lawyer because I can rest assured they have a lawyer they are consulting.

It is reasons like this that I am so glad I don't have to deal with a family.

I just moved away from Austin. Born and raised there. Pretty much anyone that moves there loves it and never leaves.

As far as clothes - shorts, t-shirt, and sandals rules. You can get into anyplace with that attire.

LOL, it hasn't even gotten hot there yet. Wait until you suffer through 90 days of over 100 degree weather. And, it really doesn't get cold there. If it freezes 5 times it's considered a bad winter.

Family death drama is just horrible.

There is likely more to this than what you write. Assuming the will actually just says "she gets the house" I do not see how the brother can have any say in how that asset is then used. Your advice to consult an attorney is solid, unfortunately.

Being pressured to be the one to move in with mom is ridiculous as well.

Well, I guess there is no need for a lawyer. They managed to hammer out an agreement they are all satisfied with. I know there is more to the entire story, but I'm not sure what "more" is.

I still wish she got a lawyer. I'm afraid she took the worse of it.

You are likely correct. Seems like settling estates can be worse than divorces at times.

Here is what the wind storm brought us last night. I have never seen wind like we got that did this and that is saying something.

The tree leaning to the right was straight up and down before the other one went down next to it.

You better reconcile yourself to that heat, son. It's only July and 100.
07-28-2015 , 12:47 PM
Ouch. Glad no one got hurt
07-28-2015 , 02:09 PM
Yike, Fish. I'm not longer going to complain about the heat. Was it only the garage that got hit like that?
07-28-2015 , 02:49 PM
any damage to the truck?

Actually the tree uprooting tore up a sidewalk and a propane line as well

Remains to be seen. So far it looks like maybe just a bit on the right side of the bed is touching, maybe dented but not any big deal. I think the real danger is going to come when we try to get the tree out of there and then back the truck out. Could get a bit dicey then.
The good news is this is just the beater hunting truck and was certainly not something new and spotless.

Damn, look at them roots. (pronounced ruhts)

Mr Brightside: Hey, at least you've got firewood for the winter!

Glad everyone is ok.

So, the obvious subtext of "My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It)" is that he IS gonna get it, right? She's just putting up a front of bravado and doth protest too much, methinks.

The key line being "what makes you think you can just walk back into her life? (Without a good fight)"

me and Maile with Veruca Salt! And then just me with Veruca Salt...'cause I'm a fan boy.

The more I listen to Veruca Salt the more I am realizing I really like them. Had them on in the background while I was working most of the day today and I am hooked.

Stick with these three albums:

American Thighs
Eight Arms To Hold You
Ghost Notes

They are all spectacular and the only three. With the four original members.

Awesome. In a lot of the reviews I read it pretty much said that without the original lineup it wasn't the same. I will check out the other two as well

Great pictures, Dom! You look good.

So I'm graduating tomorrow. Finally finished my master's program and all my clinical rotations. I was disciplined, staying off internet forums while I finished my program. Oh my god what a pain that was. Now it's time to get back to slacking.
