Summer is definitely here. Saw temps well over 100 all weekend and today is supposed to be even hotter!

Hey now. I was out in it most of the weekend. Was on a lake fishing Friday most of the day (108 when I got home) and Saturday I spent the better part of the day at the Drag Races. Sunday I will admit to only working outside until about noon and had enough of the heat and stayed in the rest of the day.

Drag Races were fun!

Yes, I got a pink snowcone with a flamingo on the straw.

Rogue River rafting trip was fantastic. Will probably put up some pictures in the outdoors thread later. Only disappointment was not seeing any bears. Perfect sunny, hot weather conducive to random swims, not crowded at all, no raft flips in rapids, overall A+.

I just hired on a girl with pierced teeth.

I never seen this before an it is going to be very difficult to not question her at some point. At least she doesn't have stretched ear lobes.

Never heard of pierced teeth. At some point I wouldn't think talking to someone about their body modifications would be a big deal as long as it is not done in a judgmental way. Most people I know do not mind talking about things at all.

My daughter did the whole ear gauge thing. I can't say it is my favorite thing but at least she stayed pretty small so it is not too bad really. She keeps fun cute things in there so it's not like she has flabby earlobes hanging down or anything. She has some pretty cool tattoos as well. I have thought about copying her on a couple and going with a family ink theme. She is our hippy child for sure.

I had too google pierced teeth. I don't think I would like it, would be tough to eat peanut butter

How the hell does that thing not get in the way when you're eating?

She has balls, not rings. I don't know how that doesn't hurt like hell every time you drink something cold, eat sugar, or well, do anything.

To be honest, I don't even notice anymore. It's pretty subtle.

Stretched lobes are probably where I'd draw the line.

My assistant and I are doing the interviewing right now. The first 3 were surprisingly good at the talking part.

The fourth was more like the typical breed we get. Dead eyes, things like that, but she took the cake in the distraction department. She was wearing a button-down. The top button was closed, but the next two buttons were left open. She was not wearing a t-shirt or a bra. It was the first time I was in an interview were I refused to look at the person. I couldn't figure out a way to bring this up with her...

There is no need to bring up anything concerning that in an interview. You make note and assuming this is not the type of attire you would consider acceptable in your business environment, put her stuff in the "Not Hiring" pile. Then move on. No need to overthink something like that at all.

I call BS on pierced teeth. How is that possible? You drill through a healthy tooth and then put something in the hole? Are you crazy?

Dom,

People are stupid. Never forget that. It explains a great deal.

I read something today about 41% of Americans think there was a point in history where dinosaurs and humans coexisted.

Seriously?

lol...I saw this, too. Pretty sad. But I'm assuming it's a small sample size - lie a hundred people or so. And they did the survey at a Wal-Mart. I hope.

I had seen something about this a while back but without a percent tied to it. It was linked to fundamentalist religions where they only want to believe that the earth is something like 6000 years old because that is the timeline they claim the bible lays out.

I think this was the case made by the religious wacko, Ken Ham when he debated Bill Nye (the science guy) a while back. Check this lunacy out!
And if you want a real laugh and have a lot of time here is the debate

I am also sure there are others who believe this because they are just stupid, have no concept of time or history and have watched a few too many movies where you see humans and dinosaurs together.

I confess I wouldn't have known whether the dinosaurs were around one million years ago or 100 million years ago.
07-02-2015 , 01:03 AM
Most dinosaurs went extinct at the end of the Cretaceous Period, 65 million years ago. This was a great extinction event that may have been caused, at least partially, by an asteroid impact.

Humans as a genus have been around for about 2.5 million years (our earliest direct ancestors) and 'Modern Humans' around for only about 200,000 years - although there may be some debate on this and some may put the age for modern humans at ~50,000 years.

How is this possible if the Earth is only 6000 years old?
