To make things more confusing, a town can be a small section of a city. Nearly every major city has a Chinatown, a Little Italy, Pollack Village, etc, but there is no such city.

It can get worse. Venice and Hollywood are not cities. They are merely subsections of Los Angeles.

And then you have Louisiana, which doesn't have counties, but parrishes, though they are technically counties.

You either mean boroughs or that writer who influenced Steely Dan.

Burroughs influenced a lot of people, but this is the first I've heard of a connection with, gag, Steely Dan.

I remembered that you weren't so keen on them!

Yeah, I don't know about every state, but New York seems to have all manner of rankings for its various locales.

you can call them what you want but they are cities or towns depending on population size.

Meteors fly around me
Comets die, and then they
And then they
You wanna see how they try to surround me

One of my favorite albums when I was young. Victim of changes...

The god Bes, an Egyptian deity is portrayed in a variety of ways, none more interesting than ithyphallic, shown below:

This is part of a Featured Exhibition at the Getty Museum which I visited today and where I took the above photo, see link below:

Egypt/index

The above is a public service message for the Lounge to increase knowledge in and appreciation of The Arts. You are welcome.

meaning john is in horror. i just realized that what i said could be taken wrong by the sick minded crew waiting to pounce on it from the weeds.

To rebalance, not just The Lounge, but the universe as a whole, I present below a painting by Thomas Gainsborough, also from The Getty. I believe it is a portrait of Ray Zee’s Mum. But I could be wrong. Enjoy.

I must be part of said crew, because that's exactly where my mind went.

If you go to the Huntington, you can see Blue Boy.

From my last visit to the Getty, where some poor woman stumbled into a photo with me. And it's snowing again today in RI, I've had a miserable cold, and I'm stuck at work chairing a meeting today.

Nice. The Getty is a great place and I really enjoy the open architecture and use of travertine and bare stone. We (Raffa* and I) had a light lunch in the restaurant, excellent food and view and I loved the atmosphere. Rather too posh for the likes of Ray but you and I, John, would slip into the ambience with ease. Or so I say.

* A good friend that will moving back to Italy soon.

Zeno, I think Ray has depths we have yet to plumb.

I have been three times to the Getty now, and I look forward to returning again this year. It's also spectacular at night. Even my friend Maureen, she who hates museums, loved the Getty.

Sandals aren't flip-flops. Easy to walk all day in those. I can't walk in flip-flops. They keep falling off.

I know you have depths Zeno doesn't suspect, Ray.

this is a bit sped up due to utube copyright os, but it's pretty sick. Love this kid's reaction to listening to the album for the 1st time.

Sandals are an abomination, but I give credit to Zeno - and I'm really surprised - that he's not wearing white crew socks with his.

I guess I'll have to pay the under.
